TWENTY-FIVE⚠️
QUEEN & GHOST
HOUSTON, TEXASBEYONCÉ AND GHOST SAT IN THE STOLEN Mercedes in front of Alexia's small home. He blew smoke into the air from his cigar while reloading his rifles and pistols, humming to himself Beyoncé's song, "Sorry."
Alexia had grown up in this home and now with both her parents dead, she was the primary owner. The place was run down with a wired fence and dirt on the walls. Beyoncé looked around, this was nowhere near the area where she grew up. She attended private school and always found herself in church on Sundays. This part of Houston had drug dealers on every corner, gunshots sounding every ten minutes, and robberies that no one paid attention to. The night was dark and it was around 11 pm.
Ghost began to teach her how to reload her S&W but it didn't seem as if she was paying attention. Her heart was beating rapidly and she realized at that moment, there was no turning back if she did this. She wondered if she was thinking right but then she looked back at Ghost and all her worries seemed to escape. He was everything she had ever wanted in a man and she trusted him. She realized if they did this together, they would be bound together with this secret.
"I'm scared." She said, her throat tightening. Ghost blew another puff of smoke out and leaned back into his seat. "You sure you want to do this? If you're not ready—,"
"I am ready," Beyoncé said, placing her hand on his thigh. "I want to do this with you. I just feeling all the emotions right now. I'm nervous, excited, anxious. I don't want the police to ever find us."
"You remember what I told you if that ever comes down to it?" He asked and she rolled her eyes. "I'm not–."
"You have to. I can't have you losing everything you worked hard for." He said, putting the cigar out. "Once you tell the police, I'll confess and allow them to arrest me. Promise me, you'll put everything on me and you'll tell them the story we put together."
"Ghost."
"Promise me."
"I promise." She frowned and sighed. "I don't want you to go to jail. I don't want to be away from you."
She didn't even want to think about a future where he wasn't there with her. Besides, she knew he wouldn't just go to jail... he would be given the death sentence for all the people he killed. If he was arrested, that would be the last time she ever saw him. But he didn't mind paying the ultimate price, as long as his sacrifice protected her.
"Then, I better not let them catch me." He chuckled and for some reason, she found herself growing more worried. "If you ever find yourself on the run, I want to be with you, right by your side."
"No you don't." He said, shaking his head. "That's not a life I'd let you live."
She didn't say anything else but rested her hand on his arm. Then she pecked his lips and leaned her head on his shoulder, raising one of the automatic rifles he had in the car in the air. She imagined herself shooting bullets and then those bullets hitting people.
"I love you, my partner in crime." He whispered, tapping her thigh with his gun. "Now, you ready?"
"Yeah, I'm ready." She said, pulling down her ski mask to cover her face. Together, they quietly stepped out of the car and headed towards Alexia's home. Before they arrived, Ghost had hacked into her security system and switched her cameras off, as well as her neighbor's.
Beyoncé held her gun in the waist of her jeans shorts, along with a couple of knives.
They snuck behind the house where they used the trees to disguise themselves. They hid under her bathroom window and they could hear that she was brushing her teeth. Then, Ghost guided her to the backdoor where she bent down and picked the key from under the rock. She remembered when Alexia told her about the key. It was when Beyoncé needed to drop off some paperwork and Alexia wasn't home.
