EPILOGUE #1
QUEEN & GHOST
HOUSTON, TEXAS
2 years later, 2018
KAIRO HELD LITTLE BLUE ON HIS LAP WHILE he listened to the track that had been created by him, Keith, Dave, and Leon Thomas who managed to stop by. He nodded his head, a satisfied bling evident in his eyes. "This is great. I think Victoria Monet will love this. It's sexy while also classical. What did she say she'll call it again?"
"We might be falling in love," Leon answered. "It's the perfect vibe, isn't it?"
"Yeah, I like how bass adds so much to the song."
"You like it Blue?" Kairo asked the smaller child who only toyed with her small headphones. She was too busy drawing on her sketchbook with her art crayons. He hummed, grabbing some hair softener cream with his fingers. Then he applied some to Blue's hair and started another small twist. When he was finished, he secured three beads at the end. He smiled to himself, this was the last mini-twist and he was now finished.
"I did good, right? Look at yourself in the mirror. You look so beautiful." He said, holding up a small compact mirror. Soon, his smile lessened. His body grew tensed and his lips formed a hard line. Keith and Leon continued talking about the track quietly while Blue tugged on her father's fingers.
"You look just like your mother." He mumbled, feeling his throat tighten. He sighed, placing a kiss on her forehead. "Just like her."
Blue focused her attention back on her drawing, grabbing the crayon with all of her fingers. He turned his head back to Leon, Dave, and Keith. "Are we all good?"
"Yeah, we're going to send it to her team tomorrow," Leon admitted, continuing to type on one of the computers. Kairo nodded, packing up Blue's materials. She began to whine but he soon calmed her down, placing her crayons and sketchbook into her care bag.
Dave leaned back into his chair and lifted his feet onto the table. "You have dark bags under your eyes."
Kairo chuckled. "Yeah, I figured."
"Have you been sleeping?" He shook his head, looking back at Blue who leaned into him, resting her forehead on his chest. Keith looked down at Blue, a sad smile spear on his face. "You know you could hire some people to help out so you're not the only one with Blue. And I know it must get lonely in that massive house of yours."
"I do have people. Tina, Solange, Kelly. They all have helped me whenever we had shows or I couldn't be there for her." Kairo shrugged, just as Keith and Dave looked at each other. "You miss her."
He looked down at his fingers, releasing a much-needed breath. He knew his friends were right, of course, he missed Beyoncé but he needed to stay strong. Showing his emotions or being vulnerable wasn't going to bring her back.
He stood up and wrapped an arm under Blue to secure her. "I'm going to take her back to the house. Leon, it was great meeting with you."
"You too man, you got some real talent. I see why you're so successful." Leon said. Kairo said goodbye to his friends and walked out of the recording studio. He secured Blue into her car chair in the back, soon making his way to the front. When he arrived at the gate of his estate, he rolled down his window and allowed his security to see him. Shortly after, the gate opened and he drove into the garage.
When he parked the car, he looked back at Blue who was fast asleep. He picked her up and carried her to her bedroom, changing her into her pajamas as she continued sleeping. He tucked her in and kissed her forehead, soon walking out.
He made his way to his bedroom, unzipping his jacket and placing it down on the chair. He looked around, noticing just how empty his bedroom looked like there wasn't any life. Everything was untouched and seemed dull.
