KADE NARROWED HIS EYES AS HE TOOK another sip of his drink. He wasn't shocked to see Kairo, he knew they would eventually be reunited. He just didn't think it would be this soon. He wasn't scared, no he was terrified. He spent the last 34 years trying to hide from fatherhood to his bastard son and now, he had to face his fears. For the first time, he had to face him without anything to restrain him. There was no way Kade could make Kairo inferior and that scared him.
But he wouldn't let the younger Verlize ever know that.
"Kairo," Kade mumbled, uneasiness evident in his voice. He pulled out his handkerchief and wiped his lips before setting it on the table. "I see you've changed nothing from the last time I saw you. Still a violent and cold-blooded murderer."
"I could say the same thing about you. Even after all these years, you still take the chance to degrade me."
"I'm just stating what I'm observing. You should have never been born."
"And you spent my entire life shoving that down my throat. I longed to eat what fell from the rich man's table but even the dogs received more scraps." Kairo gritted out, flexing his jaw. "I was just a child but I was your greatest sin."
"As if I would give you that kind of power." Kade hissed, his grip on his drink tightening. "Don't you get it? You're no man, you're trying to pretend as if you're human but I see through it. You're something much worse: a monster, a leviathan, a killer, a weapon of war. You're a hideous creature of cracked skin and a snarling voice."
"You think I wanted to be like this?" Kairo slammed his hands on the desk, as his blood boiled. Beyoncé continued watching from the stage with blurred eyes. She had never seen Kairo this emotional and the sight was enough to make her want to cry.
"Besides, you and I are on in the same. When I kill a man, I do it with my knife, but you don't use knives. You kill with your power, your money, and your fucking words."
"We are nothing alike!" Kade lashed out. "Don't you ever utter such false words out of your sinful mouth!"
"What's the matter? The truth too dark for you?" Kairo asked, narrowing his eyes. "This prison of flesh is the only thing you ever gave me, so I'll wear it while you realize you created it."
"I created it?" Kade chuckled painfully.
"I'm not violent. I'm not malicious. I am a result. You did that shit, you fucked me up. And you don't even have the balls to admit it." Kairo chuckled, pulling out his knife and twirling it in his fingers. He stood up and lifted Kade by the collar, pinning the smaller man into the wall. "While your other precious kids were going to the most prestigious elementary schools in London, I was getting pumped pills every day by the asylums I was put in. Did you honestly think I wouldn't be mentally deranged? You're lucky your nepo babies haven't been slaughtered."
