PewDie’s P.O.V
I glanced back up at the clock on the wall. I’d been out of the simulation for only ten minutes but it felt like an hour. Letting out a low sigh I looked back at the two of my friends who had made it out of the simulation before me. Ken and Russ sat at the opposite end of the corridor in silence. We were all too worried for the others to celebrate our ‘victories.’ So instead we didn’t say much to each other. We just remained, slouched against the walls of the corridor, staring at the door to the simulation room and all wishing one of our friends would come walking out of there but the minutes only stretched on and on, never giving us what we wanted.
“Are you feeling okay?” Ken asked me, finally breaking the silence.
“I’m fine,” I replied. And it was true. I was perfectly fine. I was as good as new, totally fixed, and I have been ever since I left the simulation.
The first thing I noticed when I returned to reality was that the pain crippling my body had vanished, my arm was no longer bruised and broken but it’s usually pasty white colour and my head was fine, only a slight headache remained but I think that’s from the trauma more than anything. I guess it really is just a game after all and the injuries, just as real as those inflicting them. But it makes me think; was it all just in my head? I doubt I could have conjured up that amount of pain through imagination only. Plus, it had been just as real for Cry and Red as it was for me. No, my injuries were very real... they were in the simulation anyway.
“How do you think the others are doing?” I asked quietly.
“They’re fine,” Russ answered with a nod. They were both very aware of what had happened to me inside that game. I hadn’t had to tell them; the fact that Paul and Anna had come rushing to me when I arrived back was enough to show them something bad had happened. Paul had told me that they would have taken me out straight away but it was too expensive, too expensive to take someone out of the simulation before it ended. Once they’d left I was showered with questions from Ken and Russ and I answered them all, running them through exactly what had happened. I don’t think they could quite believe it at first... I was still shocked myself.
“Yeah...,” I murmured but trailed off when the truth we all knew came back into my mind.
Three of our friends were left in that simulation, Cry, Red and Scott along with someone from the other team but...only two gems remained. Only two had the chance of continuing. We’d undoubtedly lose someone by he end of this round and that is what was causing this silence. That was what caused a horrible feeling in the pit of my stomach.
I should have told Cry to take the gem. What if he doesn’t make it out now? It’ll be all my fault, all my fault that he would have lost his chance to win this competition, all my fault that I’d have to go on without him.
I don’t want that. This would all mean nothing without him.
Cry’s P.O.V
“You got it?” I called whilst struggling to keep my balance.
“No... Lift me a little higher,” Red replied. I tried to look up at her but all I could see what her red hair falling forwards as she tried to stretch for the gem stuck in the doorframe.
“I can’t lift you any higher Red,” I pointed out as I held onto her legs and tried to push her up a little more. She sat on my shoulders and was reaching up towards her ticket out of here.
“We’ll have to just turn back and find something to stand on,” she sighed and lowered her hands.
“Hell no! What if we come back and someone’s taken it?” I said. She seemed consider this for a moment before reaching up again to try and get the stone.
