“It’s raining.” My voice was flat; disappointed at the sudden turn the weather had taken. We all sat huddled together in the cabin with Nicky and Snake due to the sudden nosedive the temperature had taken. Not only that but thick grey clouds had covered the sky, completely covered it, casting everything into dullness. Everything had turned so dark and cold. Not to mention the rain, which was hammering against the glass windows around us as if it were trying to break through.

“I can see that,” Cry whispered into my ear. I would have shoved him away playfully if I wasn’t so desperate for the warmth radiating from his body. We sat on the floor, his arms wrapped tightly around me as I snuggled closer to him. It’s gotten pretty cold. Cold enough for Nicky to begin handing us all some blankets she’d had stored away in a box.

“We haven’t needed to use these in awhile,” she told us, throwing two down to Cry.

“Sit up,” he told me. I didn’t listen at first and clung onto him tighter, reluctant to give up the little warmth I had. He just chuckled at me and prayed me away from him. I sat shivering as he wrapped the blanket around me then sat forwards to throw the other around himself. As soon as we were wrapped up I fell against him again, still wanting to be close.  The rest of my friends were handed a blanket and the all sat huddle together beside Cry.

“Here Snake,” I heard Nicky say affectionately. I watched as she jumped onto her toes, stretching to wrap a blanket around the broad shoulder of the tall silent man.

“Thank you,” he nodded but displayed no expression. He remained at the steering wheel, speeding up the boat a little so we’d get to the island before a full blow storm began. This place changed so drastically I could hardly believe it. Cry and I had been admiring the view then all of a sudden it started raining, as if someone had just tipped a bucket over us all. At least we had this little sheltered room to seek refuge in. It was pretty cosy here too.

“Whoa!” As soon as the thought had crossed my mind the boat was sent juddering upwards then falling back down as if we’d ran over a speed bump. I gripped onto Cry, feeling myself slide forward a little as yet another wave sent us soaring up again.

“Jesus...” I turned to see Russ peering out at the ocean and when I brought myself up to I knew exactly what he meant. The calm water had suddenly become frightful and choppy, large waves rising above the surface and crashing into our small boat, sending us flying in any random direction.

I guess the storms already here.

“Just grab onto something stable. We’ll be fine,” Nicky told us all. As soon as she gave us the order my friends and I scattered, rushing to find something that would prevent us from getting flung around all over the place. I skidded over to one of the four sturdy looking wooden beams and wrapped my arms around it. Clinging on tightly as I was knocked around by the waves. My eyes searched frantically for my friends. It seemed like they’d all managed to find something to hold onto but I let out a sigh when I saw Cry rushing around, making an odd noise as he panicked to find something.

“Cry! Stop fooling around!” I yelled and grabbed onto him as he ran past me. I yanked him back and he instinctually grabbed onto the beam.

“Oh...sorry friend,” he laughed, realising his own stupidity.

“You’re such a moron,” I scolded. Why’d he have to be so indecisive when under pressure? It can be a real pain...but it was pretty cute...now is not the time for cuteness!

“I know,” he admitted with a chuckle but just as quickly, the boat surged forward with a jolt. I let out a cry, feeling my feet slide along the wet floor...wait...wet? My eyes snapped over to the door to see it had flung open in the mist of everything.
