Cry’s P.O.V
We took the elevator up to the main building , Ken remained in between Pewds and I which I found a little unnecessary but went along with anyway. I can understand how this could be a little awkward for him.
The high pitch ring of the elevator sounded and the door slid open. This was actually the first time I’d been past the second floor and I only ever went there to get to the laundry room. This place was massive. I hadn’t even realised just how big it was. Looking at the elevator buttons there were twenty-eight floors, and that wasn’t including the ground floor and the two basement floors. I shouldn’t be surprised, I knew that. The simulations needed some high tech equipment and a lot of it.
I’m not entirely sure if we’re allowed to be here but the receptionist hadn’t stopped us.
Stepping out of the lift I glance down the long corridor we’d stopped at.
“Wow,” Pewds mumbled and rushed out the lift, jogging over to the large glass window posing as a wall on the right side of the building. He pressed his hands against the glass and stared out at the back of the building. If I looked really hard I could see the roof of our house in the distance. I could even see the other team’s house. These windows must be tainted though because you can’t see inside form the outside.
“This is so fancy,” Ken puffed, letting out a low whistle as he stared at the white tiled wall on our other side and the pale wooden planks covering the ceiling and floor. Everything was so pristine and glowing. It really gave the impression that this place means business.
“I wonder what’s on the top floor,” I mused and tried to look up out the window but only saw sky. A soft, warm hand enveloped mine and I looked down to see Pewds raising a brow at me.
“Stay focused Cry,” he told me and tapped the place on my mask where my nose should be. With that he turned around and started searching through the rooms.
The first room we came to was empty, well... It was dark and filled with boxes of plugs, adapters and wires. It seemed like a storage room. The second room was filled with rows of neatly lined desks. Peering inside I could see about thirty people sitting at each computer, the same white mug with the ‘Experience’ logo etched onto the side sat at each desk as the workers typed away, not even noticing us.
“They aren’t in here,” Ken said, doing a quick scan of the room and the three of us left unnoticed. The third and fourth rooms seemed like more storage rooms, filled with screens and keyboards, sound boards and light bulbs. There were even a few lab coats and goggled lying around.
“Hey Cry,” I turned around to see a giggling Pewds dressed in a lab coat and goggles. “Tell me I’m pretty,” he teased, puckering his lips and giving me a girly pose. I struggled to hold back my laughter.
“That could actually work,” Ken murmured and grabbed a lab coat. “No one will even notice we’re contestants,” he added. “Except Cry.” He pointed towards my mask and my fingers brushed against the ceramic.
“Wait...why do we have to hide? It seems like we’re okay to be here anyway,” I told him.
“Don’t you think they’ll be more likely to share information with us if they think we work here?” Ken asked, raising his eyebrows. “All we have to do it ask about Nicky and Snake. We’ll be told where they are straight away.”
“Ken’s right,” Pewds agreed and turned to me. I guess they had a point. But what will I do? Sit this one out?
“So, I’ve just got to wait here until you come back?” I asked them.
