UNIVERSAL CHAOS

Chapter Ten

      Niven handed Genevieve the ointment and she applied the medecine on the wounds of the injured student. He shouldn't really be surprised since the girl grew up with two fathers, one being a business man while the other was a doctor.

But really, what surprised him more is how serious she is. It seemed like she has done this many times before. He couldn't help the admiration he felt for the girl. Sure, they fight most of the time, but it was just them bickering. He still respected her.

The student hissed in pain at the feeling of his wounds being applied with medecine before relaxing again when the pain subsided. Alissa, the school nurse, gave each group first aid kits before sending them off.

And it was a good idea she did. They almost passed by the injured student, not when he groaned in pain. Niven helped him sit up straight.

"It's best if you don't move for now. Don't overuse your muscles, you will strain them." Genevieve instructed and the student followed her instruction.

"T-thank you..." The boy said with a dry voice before wincing. Niven handed him some water that he had in his pouch. The girl on the other side of the student eyed him. He shrugged at her before turning his attention to the student.

Niven was handed back the water bottle, "Feel better now?"

The student nodded and muttered out a yes.

"Rest for now." Genevieve reminded him when he tried to stand up. "Your wounds will open up again if you move around." She sighed before setting a cloth down then sitting on it.

Niven scoffed at how dramatic she was. He sat down beside the student, "How about we introduce ourselves first? Since we'll be around each other for a while."

"My name is Daniel, thank you again for saving me." The student said with a smile. Niven nodded and introduced himself next.

"Niven. Nice to meet you, Daniel." He offered his hand and the boy shook it gently.

"Genevieve, though I'm sure you already know me." Genevieve introduced next with a smug expression.

"Should I know you..?" Daniel asked with a curious tilt of his head.

A laugh erupted next to him and he turned his head to witness Niven laughing at his statement. Meanwhile, Genevieve's smug look faltered and was replaced by a look of disbelief.

"E-eh? W-why are you laughing?" Daniel asked the older boy beside him who held his stomach from laughing a little too much.

"I-Iㅡ Oh gosh! This is too funny!" Niven wheezed. When he finally stopped he wiped away the tears that formed in his eyes from laughing. "Dude, I can't believe that someone like you still exists." He grinned.

"W-what do you mean?" Daniel asked.

"He means that you're fucking ignorant and haven't lived your life to the fullest yet!" Genevieve answered for him and grabbed ahold of his shoulders before shaking them with such speed. "How the hell do you not know me?! Have you been living in aㅡ"

Before she could finish her sentence, she was pulled back by Niven who had a worried expression on his face. "And you said to not let him move around. But look at what you're doing!"

This made Genevieve pause and look at the poor boy who was wincing in pain. She cursed under her breath before apologizing then sulking right after.

"You alright?" Niven asked Daniel who muttered out a weak yes. "Are you sure?" He asked again to make sure.

Daniel nodded in return, "Yeah, just that she touched one of my bruises on the shoulder." This made Genevieve sulk even more because of guilt. "But really, she shouldn't curse like that! Cursing is a bad thing!"

The two were shocked by his way of reprimanding. He was scolding Genevieve because she cursed and not because she hurt him? Now that's what's funny.

Niven held back a snicker and changed the topic.

"So what happened? Why were you so injured?" He asked and he could feel a stare behind him, but he ignored it. He knew it was Genevieve. He'll do damage control later.

Genevieve could only stare at the boy who ignored her. Like, what the actual fuck? She's grateful he saved her from more embarrassment, but really? Did you really have to change it into a depressing topic? Huh?!

She stared holes at the side of his face.

"I was heading to the faculty room to hand-in assignments. Until a portal opened up in front of me. Luckily, I was able to get out of the way before monsters started streaming out."

"But isn't the faculty at the other side of the building?" Genevieve asked in confusion. "How the hell did you end up here?"

Daniel frowned, "Please mind your language." He sighed before answering her question, "I ran to get my sister. But I ended up almost getting killed by a beast."

"Your sister?" Niven quirked a brow. "You have a sister?"

"Yes." Daniel nodded, "She just turned eleven years old and is currently in fifth grade. Did you see her?" He asked with a hopeful look on his face.

Niven didn't know how to answer him. Yeah, he was in the first floor awhile ago, but he doesn't know how this guy's little sister looked like.

"How does she look like?"

"Light-brown hair with hazel eyes. Maybe just around Genevieve's shoulder." Daniel described and Niven could still not remember seeing a girl with the same descriptions.

"I didn't see her. How about you Genevieve?" He turned to the girl who was also deep in thought. She eventually shook her head, making Daniel let out a sigh.

"Maybe she's with some of the school staffs." Genevieve said, trying to brighten the mood that Niven had ruined awhile ago. Daniel nodded and they decided to start moving now.

Niven put Daniel's arm around his neck and helped him stand. The three of them started to walk and so continued their venture through the third floor.

They stayed quiet and decided to stay away from open spaces just incase there would be any beasts. They can't really fight well since there was someone injured with them.

They will have to hurry up and get back soon to meet
with the others.
