(HUMANISED)
----------The little café was quiet, save for the soft hum of background music and the gentle clinking of dishes from behind the counter. Titan pushed open the café door, the bell above chiming with a cheerful, welcoming sound. The place had a warm, cozy vibe, with soft lighting and walls lined with faded star maps and photos of distant galaxies. The aroma of coffee and baked goods filled the air, and for a moment, he could almost forget the weight of his responsibilities back at the Moon Club.
He scanned the café, his eyes landing on someone very familiar behind the counter. Titania, her golden-brown lips curved in a shy smile, was busy wiping down the espresso machine. Her hair was pinned back in a high messy bun, with a few rebellious strands framing her face, and two pins held her bangs out of her eyes. She wore a simple apron dusted lightly with flour and coffee stains, but even in this unassuming outfit, she exuded a warmth and elegance that made her seem almost out of place among the shelves of mugs and bags of coffee beans. Titan watched her for a moment, captivated by how natural she looked here, making the café feel like a safe haven in the vast, chaotic universe.
Clearing his throat to catch her attention without startling her-after all, he had learned his lesson from last time; let's just say her punch is strong and painful-he saw her look up, her eyes widening in surprise. A genuine smile spread across her face. "Well, well, look who's gracing us with his presence," she said, placing the cloth down and coming over to greet him, her cheeks just a hint rosy.
"I'm here for the... ambiance," he replied with a playful smirk. "And maybe the best coffee in the solar system." She rolled her eyes at his obvious flattery, but her smile grew wider.
"Is that right? Because last I checked, you didn't even like coffee," she teased, her voice light yet flirtatious, their playful banter always a highlight of his day.
Titan shrugged, the confident smirk shifting to a shy grin as he settled onto one of the stools at the counter. "Maybe I've developed a taste for it... or maybe it's just the barista." He gave her a cheeky wink, watching her blush deepen as she playfully rolled her eyes.
"Flattery doesn't get you a discount, you know," she said, her tone teasing, but she poured him a cup anyway. Pushing the steaming mug toward him, her fingers brushed against his, sending a spark of electricity between them. "But since you're here, I'll make an exception."
He took a sip, grimacing slightly at the bitterness, which only made her laugh. "I knew it! You still hate coffee," she said, leaning against the counter with a mischievous glint in her eyes as she stuck her tongue out at him.
"Maybe," he admitted, setting the mug down. "But I had to come see my favorite barista at work." Their gazes locked, and for a moment, the bustling world outside the café faded away. Titan couldn't help but think how lucky he was to be with someone like her.
"Been a rough week?" A group of regulars waved to her from the corner, calling out her name. She waved back quickly, her attention still flickering to him, making his heart race. Titan watched her with an almost lovestruck expression before clearing his throat. When she turned back, her expression was soft, and he felt warmth radiating between them.
"Understatement of the century," he muttered. "I swear the Moon Club's more work than Saturn herself." Titania laughed, her laughter soothing yet inviting.
"Titan," she said gently, reaching across the counter to place her hand on his. "You know you can take a break every once in a while. You don't have to carry everything on your own." Her touch grounded him, igniting something warm in his chest.
"I don't know... It feels like if I let go, even for a second, everything might just... fall apart," he chuckled awkwardly. "Ganymede and Europa are stirring up a LOT of trouble for the whole Moon Club. It's a lot... why did I just admit that?"
Titania squeezed his hand and stifled a laugh. "Well, maybe if you let them talk a little more instead of giving orders, they wouldn't push back so much."
He leaned on the counter, feigning a look of betrayal. "Are you taking their side?"
"Maybe," she teased, a playful smile dancing on her lips. "But only because I know how stubborn you can be. Sometimes you're just a bit too... intense." Her expression softened, and she held his gaze, her eyes sparkling. "But I get it. You want to make things better for all of us."
Her sincerity struck a chord, and he felt warmth radiating from her words. "Maybe I do need to lighten up. You've always been better at seeing things from everyone's perspective." For the first time in what felt like ages, he allowed himself to just be in the cozy warmth of the café, with Titania beside him. "Thanks, Titania," he murmured, his voice softer than usual. "I don't know what I'd do without you."
She gave his hand a lingering squeeze before pulling away to serve another customer who had just walked in. "Good thing you don't have to find out," she replied with a playful smile. As she went back to work, she added, "But if you're going to keep coming around, you're going to have to learn to like coffee."
"Challenge accepted," he said, taking another sip and forcing himself to swallow, though he grimaced. "I think I need to add some sugar to this," he said, pouting slightly.
Titania turned back, wiping her hands on her apron with a knowing smirk. "You sure?" she asked, her eyes sparkling with mischief.
"Yes, I'll take that sugar," Titan replied, leaning forward, resting his elbows on the counter. "But I'll also need your expert guidance on how to drink it properly. Maybe you could give me a crash course?"
'What's a coffee crash course?' Titania squinted at him before deciding to indulge his request.
"Sure," she said, smirking. "First lesson: stop making that face when you drink it. You're supposed to enjoy it, not look like you're trying to swallow a comet."
Titan chuckled, relaxing into the moment. "Noted. I'll work on my coffee face," he said. Just then, a customer came in.
"Excuse me for a second," she said, her voice light, before moving away to attend to her customer. Titan leaned back in his stool, content to watch her as she interacted with the patron, a fond smile tugging at his lips.
After a moment, Titania returned, setting a small container of sugar on the counter with a playful wink. "Here's your sugar."
"Wow, you really are spoiling me today," he replied, raising an eyebrow in playful disbelief.
"Only because I can't have you turning into a bitter moon," she teased, her eyes sparkling as he sprinkled the sugar into his cup.
"Fair point. If I'm going to lead the Moon Club, I might as well do it with a smile," Titan said, mixing the sugar in and taking another sip. This time, he grinned at the improved flavor. "Hey, this isn't bad! You might be onto something here."
Titania smiled, her golden-brown lips curling into a satisfied grin as she leaned against the counter, watching him with amusement. "See? Told you. Just needed a little sweetness in your life," she said, crossing her arms and leaning in a bit closer, their faces almost touching.
"Sweetness? I think you might be my secret ingredient," Titan quipped, his playful tone underscored with sincerity.
"Don't push your luck," she replied, her voice a mix of playful defiance and shyness, the blush on her cheeks revealing her delight. "I'm not that easy to please."
"I'm sure I could change your mind," Titan replied, leaning in slightly closer, a teasing glint in his eyes. "What would it take?"
Titania laughed softly, her eyes dancing with mischief. "Well, I could think of a few things. But you might have to earn it."
"I'm up for the challenge," he said, grinning, his heart racing as they lingered in the moment, both aware of the undeniable chemistry between them.
"I'm so done with you," Titania sighed dramatically, but her smile lingered as she walked away to start making orders, leaving him grinning at their playful exchange.
