It's easy to buy the can sof black beans, but it *much* cheaper to make them yourself. The cool part is it's a lot easier than you think.

~ 1/2 lb. of dried black beans

~ 1/2 a large onion or 1 small onion, diced

~ 1 large clove of garlic, minced

~ Salt & pepper

~ 1 tablespon of cumin (maybe  laittle more)

~ 1/4 - 1/3 tsp of chilli powder

Sort through beans to remove any weird ones (or pebbles or anything like that). Set them to soak in the pan overnight. Next morning, drain them. Add all the indregients. Add enough water so it is a 1 (beans) to 2 (water) ratio. (So enough to the water over the beans is the same height.) Mix. Bring to a boil and then reduce heat to let it simmer for 40 minutes. And water if necessary, but towards the end let it reduce so your beans are slightly soupy.

Tada. You will have the equivilant of five or six cans, for a fraction of the price.
