When Katrina Salvatore had her mind set on something, she made sure to follow through with it immediately. Of course, some things took time to accomplish, but she would learn to be patient; it was the only way to get the results she wanted.

Monday morning was dragging even before classes began, and the Salvatore's patience was running thin. She promised Jeremy that she'd start his training after school as long as her brothers made time to help, but the older brother claimed that he and Stefan had more important matters to take care of first.

"What could be more important than helping your future brother-in-law?!" She shrieked through her phone, ignoring the giggles from her blonde friend. "Who, by the way, has an urge to kill us!"

"You are taking it too far there, calling him that. It's never gonna happen," Damon's voice answered on the other end with a tone of high disbelief.

"No? The sight of your puppy eyes directed at a certain doppelgänger tells me otherwise." She heard him swear under his breath, giving her a sense of satisfaction that was then replaced with annoyance. "Damon Salvatore, do not change the subject! Where are you and Stefan going?"

"Relax. We're going to New Orleans. You know, drinking, sightseeing, breaking my Sire Bond with Elena . . ."

The female Salvatore thought she felt a vein pop in her skull. "Your what?!"

"Keep it down," one of the teachers scolded as he passed her through the hallway.

Damon let out a dramatic gasp when the teacher left. "Uh oh, you better get to class before you also get yelled at for being late. I'll fill you in later."

"No, no, Damon, don't . . ." She groaned in frustration when she heard the other line cut off, "hang up."

Katrina loved her brother with her whole heart, but she swore that he was the most insufferable man she had ever known. He knew how to rile her up—even over the silliest things—as though it were his specialty. And when it was over more serious matters . . .

She just didn't understand why he wouldn't tell her these things, especially something as significant as a Sire Bond; it was a bond more common in hybrids, so the female Salvatore was surprised when Damon revealed that Elena was sired to him. However, it started to make sense witnessing the Gilbert girl's behavior around him and how she'd easily agree to everything he said.
