Third Person P.O.V

Two years later...

The sky above was dark, gray clouds looming overhead. Seagulls squawk as they fly through the clouds, diving downward and flying above the water. Dolphins cry out happily as they leap over waves, coming to a stop and peeking their faces out of the water. The seagulls seem to stop as well, greeting the dolphins with chirps and soft squawks.

The dolphins look behind them, gasping and diving down while the seagulls fly away as an impressive ship comes into view. Waves crash along the sides of the ship, the sails standing tall and pushed by the wind as they sail to their destination.

I'll tell you a tale of the bottomless blue and it's hey! To the starboard, heave ho!

Crewmembers scoop up a netting of fish, all singing together as they work. Men work from above on the sails, untying one and letting it hang free.

Look out, lad! A mermaid be waiting for you, in mysterious fathoms below!

(D/N) howls lightly, singing along with the men as (Y/N) sits on the upper deck railing with a content smile. She wore a loose (F/C) shirt, and black cotton pants held up by a leather belt. Her boots were (brown/black), and reached to her upper shin.

(Y/N) breathes in deeply, sighing softly. "This is the life, huh, (D/N)?"

(D/N) barks once in agreement, rising on his hind legs and resting his front paws on the railing besides her as his tail rapidly wags.

"They weren't kidding about the air being salty," she jokes, coughing lightly with squinted eyes.

A sharp gust of wind almost knocks her off the railing, making her yelp with laughter as she steadies herself. "And that wind? Wow! How're you doing over there, Grimsby?"

She glances to her left, Grimsby doubling over the railing towards the sea and vomiting violently.

"Oh, don't even ask," Grimsby manages out, retching as he pulls himself up.

His face was a light shade of green, his silver hair in disarray. He retches once more, vomiting over the edge as (Y/N) cringes with a sympathetic laugh.

"A fine strong wind and a following sea!" a crewmember smiles, tugging on the masts' rope.

(Y/N) jumps down, moving to his side and helping him.

"King Triton must be in a friendly type mood!"

(Y/N)'s body goes rigid as she laughs nervously, nodding. "Must be!"

"Ye heard of him, Princess?" he questions, tilting his head as he ties down the rope into a knot. "Ruler of the merpeople!"

"Ah, I've... heard a bit about him, yeah," she calls back, clearing her throat with a nod.

"I knew you must've heard of 'im!" another calls over, grabbing fish out of the netting and stuffing them into barrels. "Yer one of the best sailors I've ever sailed with, lass!"

(Y/N) hums with a small laugh, (D/N) trotting down the stairs and rubbing against her leg with a happy whine. "Yeah, I guess you can say I know a little about mer-folk."

"Merpeople," Grimsby scoffs as he rolls his eyes, walking down the steps and holding his stomach. "(Y/N), do not let them bring you in to their nautical nonsense."

"But it ain't nonsense!" the crewmember protests, waving a fish at Grimsby and startling him. "It's the truth!"

The fish looks around with fear, Grimsby's nose scrunching up as he steps back from the sea creature.
