Chapter 32

I can't stop crying as I wait outside the ICU, Tita Selene is beside me right now as she comforts me.

I didn't expect that Dmitri would sacrifice herself for me.

The moment that Dmitri was shot, saktong nakarating yung mga pulis. Guess what, it was Chief General Lennon who had arrested her own daughter. He knew her plan, he told everything to Tita Selene because of his guilt and disappointment for his own child.

The gun Linux used was a silencer, that's why I'm glad that the children haven't woken up by it. I made sure that the nannies and the added security guards surrounded the house, before I immediately went here.

"Tita Selene, I can't deal with another death. I still haven't moved on from my sister, tapos may susunod ulit? Bakit puro na lang ganito, Tita? Are we being punished?"

"Nasaan ang anak ko?!" Napatingin kami kay Tita Vanity and Tita Ekaterina who were anxiously walking towards us.

Tumayo na ako at sinalubong sila, "Dawn, what happened to my daughter?"

"She was shot, Tita Vanity. It was supposed to be for me, but she shielded her body for me." Diretsong sagot ko.

She rubbed her temples and sat down, I saw how her jaws were clenched. Tita Ekaterina was silent but she looked very worried as much as her wife.

I know that it would be very awkward for Tita Selene seeing that her ex-girlfriend and her wife are sat across her comforting each other. Kaya bumalik na ako sa upuan ko, hinawakan ko ang kamay niya.

Ilang oras pa ang nakalipas, may lumabas na doctor. It was Dmitri's parents who stood first, sila na rin ang kinausap ng doctor since sila ang mas close relative for her.

"She's alright, the bullet didn't hit any vital parts fortunately. But she lost a lot of blood, that's why need someone to donate for her." The doctor explained.

"Ako, doc. My daughter and I had the same blood type." Sagot ni Tita Vanity.

Tumango yung doctor, "Alright, that's good so that we can immediately proceed with the blood transfusion."

That's good, I felt relieved hearing that Dmitri is in good condition.

Kinabukasan, binisita ko si Dmitri sa room kung saan siya assigned.

I knocked before I opened the door, and then I walked inside. Mag-isa niya lang and she's staring at the wall. Her eyes locked with mine, I then placed the food on the table beside her.

"How are you?" I asked her.

"Feeling better," she responded. "What's that?" Tinuro niya yung dala kong naka-styrofoam.

"Kare-kare 'yan, nagluto ako para sa'yo," sabi ko, nakangiti sa kanya. Nakita kong kumislap ng kaunti ang mga mata niya.

Binuksan ko at pinakita sa kanya. Napatawa ako nang makita kong natatakam na siya. Kinuha ko na rin yung plastic spoon.

"Here, have a taste," kumuha ako ng konti at inilapit ang kutsara sa bibig niya. Tumingin siya sa akin saglit, pero binuka niya ang bibig niya at tinikman ito.

She closed her eyes, savoring the taste. "Damn, it's still delicious. The same as the one you cooked the last time."

Binigay ko na sa kanya at pinanood siyang kumain.

"Aren't you going to eat," tanong niya.

"Tapos na akong kumain."

Hinintay ko siyang matapos kainin iyon habang nakaupo malapit sa window, tahimik lang akong nakikipag-usap sa sarili ko nung tumikhim siya.

"I... uhh, I need some help. I need to pee." She said, kaya agad naman akong tumayo at tinulungan siya makapunta sa comfort room. Mabigat siya nung tinulungan kong maglakad kaya medyo natagalan kaming makapunta sa CR kahit ilang steps lang iyon.

Nakatayo na siya sa harapan ng toilet bowl, tumalikod naman ako agad dahil bigla niyang itinaas yung hospital gown. I know my face was reddened since I saw a smirk on the corner of her lips. Bwisit siya, hindi man lang ako sinabihang tumalikod.

Tinulungan ko ulit siyang makabalik, hays she's so heavy and tall.

Tahimik lang kaming dalawa kaya nagsalita na ako, "Why did you do that for me?"

"Do what?" Nagtatakang tanong niya.

"You shielded your body for me."

She looked away at me and sighed, "I can't afford losing another mother of my children."

Ah, okay.

"Linux was already arrested. She was pointing at your family as the one behind the deaths of my father and sister, pero siya pala ang wolf in the sheep's clothing." I shook my head in disappointment.

I can't believe that she could do that to the family who helped her. Ibang-iba talaga sa Linux na dating kilala ko. She was so sweet when we were a child, parang di nga niya kayang pumatay ng langaw man lang.

Tahimik lang siya as she listened to all of my rants and complaints. Nung tumahimik na ako, nagsalita na rin siya pero nakakagulat yung sinabi niya.

"Marry me," seryoso lang siyang nakatingin sa akin.

"H-ha?"

"I don't have to repeat myself, Aurora. I know that you clearly heard what I had just said." Seryoso pa rin ang ferson.

"You want me to marry you?" I asked, just to clarify.

"Yes." Her brief and firm response.

Mahihimatay yata ako dito.

"Why?" I furrowed my brows at her.

"I want my children to have my surnames already, including Vaughn."

So, ayun lang ang reason?

"I can do that for you without having to marry."

"Just fucking marry me, Aurora." She impatiently told me.

"Ayoko..."

She smirked at my answer instead na magalit, "I already took a bullet for you and you don't want to marry me?" She pouted.

Cute.

"Eh bakit ko ba kasi papakasalan ang taong hindi naman ako mahal? Sa ating dalawa, ako lang ang nagmamahal. Ayoko nga ng one sided relationship-"

"Aurora," she cuts me off. "Look, give me a chance. Give me a chance to prove it to you that I can learn to love you as well, since may mga anak naman na tayo."

I was surprised at her statement, I shook my head. "Huwag na. Don't force yourself to love someone that you don't even love, alam kong si Dusk pa rin ang nasa puso mo."

Alam ko masakit, but I have to accept it anyway.

I heard her sigh, "Come on, Aurora. I'm trying to be better and I wanted to start it with you and our children and Vaughn. Let me learn to love you..."

"Huwaw ha, pagkatapos mo akong sagut-sagutin noon about sa nararamdaman ko sayo? Kung gusto mong maghiganti, huwag sa paraang ganito na involved ang mga bata-"

She cut me off again, "Aurora, just try to listen to me. I'm sorry about that, alright? I was just hurt and confused, I admit that I was really really furious at what you did. Pero after you slapped me with those words saying that you really had genuinely felt something for me, that's when I knew that I should open my eyes wider. Now, I see you, Aurora."

Tahimik pa rin ako, binabasa ang mga mata niya kung nagsasabi siya ng totoo but I can really sense sincerity in her.

"Really, Dmitri?"

"Yes, I wanted us to start over again. Forget those dramas and shits, and bury them." she chuckled. "So... hello there, Miss. I am Vodka Dmitri Antonov, your future wife- I mean it's nice to meet you." She offered her hand at me.

I laughed at her antics, and then I sighed. "Hello, I'm Dawn Aurora Bituin. It's a pleasure meeting you as well." I smiled at her.

We both laughed, she pulled me in a warm hug that I have missed. Ito na ba ang redemption.
