Returning back to the hill that he once stood to meet the eyes of the girl he promised to protect. "I've been dying to see her face."

Remembering how he would chase her around the fields. Hiding behind the trees laughing and enjoying what he now knows as a childhood.
If he could just forget it and walk away from this he would. From with in the silence he had now realized that after all they were one in the same.

(I will protect you. I will be your knight and we will discover other worlds. We'll travel other lands. You won't ever have to marry or be unwanted.) All those broken promises. Not even the chance to say goodbye to her when she had left. As dark as his soul is no other would know his heart holds the darkest part.

Like moths running to a flame she held onto every word he said. Now they bounce back to him leaving him a bitter sweet taste.
They were bold, they held hold of the lightning strikes from above when they should have been afraid of the heights. As much as he wanted to forget her, knowing he could never protect her. Knowing he could never catch her.

He left..

Souls falling away from grace. Falling apart.

He stood on the top of the hill not as a boy but as a man. His armor of gold, a name with a title behind, Lautrec could feel how so much has changed. From a simple boy who once shoveled the filth off the ground for others. To a man who could face any demon, titan, dragon, sorcerer, armies of warriors and knights.

Looking down to the same spot where the girl and her sister once stood was a woman in a white gown. She was unaware of his presence.

Her head raised as she kept her hands closed together feeling the cold blade curve around her neck. "Where is she?" Lautrec questioned aggressively. The woman was silent. "Playing silent won't end so well for you, sister. Answer me if not I will disembowel you and wear your arms around my armor. Tell me where she is!"

The woman finally turned to look over her shoulder as Lautrec kept his distance keeping the blade beneath her chin

The woman finally turned to look over her shoulder as Lautrec kept his distance keeping the blade beneath her chin. "The boy has grown to be a man." She spoke softly. "I am not the eldest sister." She bowed respectfully. Lautrec reached out grabbing the collar of her gown aggressively. "Where is the eldest?" He asked.

"The firekeeper. The eldest has become a Firekeeper. She restored the faith of her young sister. But as serving punishment she was once more locked into the undead asylum. There could only be one fire keeper."

Lautrec shook her. "Why?" He tossed her down to the ground as he walked back and forth keeping his eye on her. "Orders from the eldest sister. In order to obtain the security of a Firekeeper she had to take from her own sister. There could only be but one. The two scholars of sin. The eldest and the young girl. The poor girl was betrayed by the eldest. Accused of murdering her husband."

Lautrec shook his head. "She was locked away in the undead asylum by her elder sister. The eldest became a Fire Keeper and gave the young girl the gift of humanity." The woman wept but Lautrec held no care.

"So where is she now? Where is the girl?" Lautrec asked.

The woman kept her head down. "She is to be taken back to the asylum to meet her death."

Lautrec attempted to keep his cool. "Why?"

The woman sat up. "The girl was undead at one point. Her sister became a Firekeeper. Providing the girl with humanity to restore her to herself. She had done a taboo. In order to keep all she was given she has to now strip the girl of her humanity and send her to the asylum. Sin after sin."

Lautrec breathed in as he thought about it. "If the firekeeper is gone will the girl be safe?"

The woman nodded her head in agreement.

Lautrec raised his shotels. "You have been most informal. But you are not innocent."

The woman's expression was in shock and disbelief as she attempted to run away. Lautrec slayed her. Decapitated and removed her limbs from her body.

As it goes. Lautrec found the eldest sister.

"So you came?" She spoke softly.

"Why betray her? Explain yourself!" Lautrec tossed the head of the knight who was to guard her by her side. She turned to see the decapitated head, face of horror and pain.

"I was the one who planned her marriage."

Slaying her and taking her Firekeeper souls he was not forever to run.
