Feral Shifter (uncommon)
Some shapeshifters, typically due to the great emotional distress and high emotions or mental health declining, can become lost within the mind of an animal form during their change. Doing so drives them mad; they will lose their ‘human’ consciousness and the ability to shift back sometimes. When trapped in a predatory form or a otherwise powerful form, they seem drawn to attack the reasoning sapient species and can be quite dangerous; those who drive themselves to try and change back to their human form while in this mental state can become trapped between in a half-monstrous forms that are typically thought to be the origins of stories regarding lycanthropy.
Thankfully, it’s uncommon for a shifter to go feral. While the rest of their sapient species don’t view this rare condition as inherently negative -- some consider it to be fully embracing the animal side of their nature -- they will kill these feral shifters if their behavior becomes too dangerous and threatening.
