Major Language Groups and Dialects
When in a shapeshifted form, they can instinctively communicate with individuals of their current species. Human language, they have to learn just like any other human, and they do not have their own spoken language. When they speak out loud, it is in their own dialect of human language, a combination of the language shapeshifters spoke with humans when they lived in peace, and more modern influences that they have gained from humans who have later come to live with them.
Their primary way of communication within their own species, however, is telepathy. They can transmit thoughts to each other (as a conscious decision - they do not have the ability to read minds). They can choose to do this either to everyone within a certain distance, or only to people that they are physically touching (skin to skin).
