"Queen Historia!"
The crowd erupted in cheers as Historia was finally crowned as queen of the walls. Adrasteia stood on the sidelines, a sense of relief washing over her. After all the battles fought and sacrifices made, it felt like a moment of respite had finally arrived.
She had done everything in her power to alter the current timeline, to pave the way for a brighter future.
A future she hoped would not have bloodshed.
With the monarchy restored, Adrasteia could see a glimmer of hope for the people who had suffered for so long.
But it wasn't enough. Not yet.
But even as she celebrated this victory, another pressing concern weighed heavily on her mind: the Marleyan Warriors who had been held captive for far too long. Their fates hung in the balance, and she knew that freeing them was essential to restoring balance and fostering true peace.
She turned around, slipping away from the crowd which didn't go unnoticed by Captain Levi and Section Commander Hange.
Levi and Hange exchanged a look, their sharp eyes tracking the tall, lithe figure of Adrasteia disappearing from the crowd.
She'd always had a tendency to slip away unnoticed, the same way she'd always kept her distance from everyone else, even when they had fought side by side in the harshest of battles.
"Tsk. That brat's always in her own world," Levi muttered, his face void of any emotion.
Hange shrugged, a small smile tugging at their lips. "Well, you know how she is. I've been thinking of asking Erwin to transfer her to my squad. Her previous one. . . well, we all know how that ended."
Levi didn't respond right away. He just raised an eyebrow. "You think that'll help? She's never really been one to play nice with others. She even rejected joining my squad."
"I'm not asking her to play nice," Hange replied with a grin. "But maybe being with a team who can keep her grounded will make a difference. She looks like she's been through a lot, Levi."
Levi sighed, the edges of his mouth twitching into a brief frown. "Fine. But don't expect me to babysit her."
Hange chuckled. "I'll handle it. You just focus on your own squad. You know how chaotic they are especially when you're not there."
"I'll cooperate."
Annie, restrained and vulnerable, faced the stern expressions of Survey Corps superiors, Darius Zackly and Queen Historia. She steeled herself, ready to take the risk for her father's sake. The gravity of her situation pressed down on her, but she knew this was a gamble she had to make.
As she sat there, her mind raced back to the past. It was only late in the game that she realized who had come to speak with her. She had never fully understood the deep-seated hatred that person harbored against her until now when the pieces of their history began to fall into place.
