Adrasteia was in her dormitory, changing into her casual clothes. Most of the Scouts had been granted a day off after the grueling events of the 57th expedition onwards, a much-needed respite after the chaos that had unfolded.
As she slipped into a comfortable off-shoulder top, corset, and ankle-length skirt, Adrasteia reflected on the past week.
It had been a whirlwind since Historia was crowned queen, and for the first time in years, she felt a significant weight lift from her shoulders. It was as if she had finally accomplished something monumental.
A sense of relief washed over her, something she hadn't felt in so long, repeated years amidst the failures, losses, and disappointments that had marked her journey.
Yet, a hint of anxiety bubbled beneath the surface. The change was exhilarating, but it also came with uncertainty. What would the future hold for them now that they had taken steps toward a new future?
Despite her worries, a small smile tugged at her lips. She had managed to save the people she cared deeply about, and that realization filled her with warmth. They had fought hard for their freedom, and she had played a part in that struggle. It was enough to ignite a flicker of hope within her.
"I guess spending the day not caring about anything won't hurt, right?" Adrasteia muttered to herself as she strolled along the long halls, the weight of recent events finally starting to lift. She was on her way to the mess hall when she unexpectedly stumbled upon three of her superiors.
'You have got to be kidding me,' she scoffed internally as Hange's eyes lit up at the sight of her.
"Deia my dear! Perfect timing!" Hange exclaimed, their wide grin lighting up the hallway. "We're heading out to eat at a new shop that just opened in Trost! Want to join us?"
Adrasteia blinked, caught off guard. She had been planning on a quiet meal in the mess hall, but seeing Hange so enthusiastic made her heart swell with joy. It was nice to see her friend in such high spirits after everything that had happened.
"I was just about to eat in the mess hall. . ." she replied hesitantly.
"The food there is stale!" Hange countered, practically bouncing on their toes. "Come on! I haven't seen you since the expedition! I heard you got injured, and that during the battle to retrieve Eren, you fainted from a high fever! I got reports, you know!"
Adrasteia glanced at the two other superiors, Levi and Erwin, hoping they might step in to provide a bit of balance to Hange's energy. But they simply exchanged looks, clearly unbothered by Hange's enthusiasm. Levi raised an eyebrow, a hint of amusement in his otherwise stoic expression.
With a sigh, she felt her resolve wavering. Hange's excitement was contagious, and the thought of a warm meal outside the barracks was tempting. "Okay, I'll come," she relented, a smile breaking across her face despite herself.
"Great! Let's go!" Hange cheered, practically dragging the poor young girl along as they set off down the hallway.
As they walked, Hange animatedly shared their thoughts about the new restaurant, detailing the menu items she had heard about. "I've been craving my favorite food since the 57th expedition!"
"Roasted Chicken," Adrasteia unconsciously mumbled.
"How do you know?!" Hange said in surprise which made Adrasteia surprised as she didn't notice that she said it out loud.
"Just a wild guess."
Erwin, walking alongside them, chimed in. "Just make sure you don't let Hange order for you. You might end up with something you didn't want."
