"So, Erwin, what do you think about her?" Hange asked, leaning forward in their chair in the dim light of the commander's office.
The sun had already set, casting long shadows across the room as the last cadets filtered out, heading back to their dormitories to prepare for the next day's duties.
Erwin sat back in his chair, his expression contemplative. "I have a feeling there's more to her. She's hiding something, and we need to find out what it is. We can't overlook this any longer."
Hange nodded, pulling a file from their desk. "I've already looked into her background, and what she said is true according to the information we have. She's a citizen of Karanese, the youngest child of two. Her father was a farmer, and her mother was a stay-at-home wife." She placed the file down, their brow furrowed in thought.
Erwin intertwined his fingers, resting his elbows on the table. "Still, how could she survive that titan attack that day?"
Levi, who had been quietly observing, chimed in. "You said the area was in chaos. How can you be so sure she was actually eaten? It's possible she dodged it and managed to kill the titan herself. I told you, that brat is hiding her strength."
Hange looked intrigued by that possibility. "You might be onto something. If she has the skill or instinct to fight back, it could explain how she survived."
Erwin's gaze sharpened, recalling the day in question. "I saw that titan ready to bite me. Its mouth was open wide, and if she hadn't intervened, I would have lost my right arm. I distinctly saw her swallowed whole, and then she just appeared as if nothing had happened."
"Maybe she has some kind of latent ability we don't know about," Hange suggested. "She could be more resilient than we think."
Levi crossed his arms, deep in thought. "Or she could be hiding her true capabilities. It wouldn't be the first time someone played coy to protect themselves."
Erwin nodded, contemplating the implications. "We need to keep a close watch on her. If she does possess some hidden strength, it could be valuable to us—and potentially dangerous if left unchecked."
Hange leaned back, a hint of excitement in their eyes. "We should bring her in for a training session. Test her limits, see how she responds under pressure."
"That's a good idea," Erwin agreed, straightening in his chair. "If she's willing to open up, it might lead us to understand her better. But we must approach this carefully. She seems to have been through a lot, and we don't want to push her too hard or even trigger her."
Levi uncrossed his arms, his gaze fixed on Erwin. "I'll keep an eye on her during training. If there's something she's hiding, I'll find out."
Hange clapped their hands together. "Perfect! Let's see what Deia is really made of."
As they wrapped up their discussion, Erwin's thoughts lingered on Adrasteia. She was a puzzle, and he was determined to uncover the truth behind her past and abilities. With the looming threats they faced, every piece of information could be crucial in the battles ahead.
In a world filled with uncertainty, understanding Adrasteia could mean the difference between survival and defeat. And he was prepared to uncover whatever it took to keep their team strong.
