I watched as she flinched away from my soft touch on her waist

I watched as she flinched away from my soft touch on her waist. I clenched my teeth like a bastard. What else did I expect? The last time I saw Victoria was when I nearly choked the life of her, and every time I think of it, my stomach sours. I hate myself more now that I have her here, and she doesn’t want me around.

I don’t blame her. She could have shot me and ended my life, but she stayed and let me please her. I know she regrets it, but Victoria had no idea how much the sight of her hurts my heart, knowing I cannot have her. She would never let me. That fucking hurts more than when my mother left me.

I needed Victoria, and fuck if she’ll push me away. I won’t have it!
I ring the doorbell, and she looks at it like it was never there. “They can’t hear the knock on the door, Moya Luna. The music may be soft outside, but it’s loud inside.”

She ignores me, and I tighten my arms around her waist when I sense she would run. “I’m not going inside with you. Either you let me leave, or you go.”
“Too late.” The door opens, and Harold Valdes stands with his wife, Mrs Valdes. Her red-polished fingers wrap around a glass of wine, and she watches Victoria with so much envy. My thumb caresses her back, and she doesn’t know it but steps closer to me.

I stared into Harold’s battered face as he perused my inked skin carefully. Giulia watches me, but I give nothing to her. “Are you going to invite us in?” I corked a brow.

“Of course.” Catalina didn’t take her eyes off Victoria and furrowed her brows just as much in confusion. They’d never met, but Harold’s face gave her the impression that Victoria set him up. She didn’t have to do shit. She didn’t do it, hence why I’m here with her.

That’ll show them that I meant business and she was never to be fucked with. “Will you introduce us, Castillo?” Victoria stepped aside, and I brought my arm forward, doing the introduction before Victoria made the mistake of revealing my birth name.

“Robert Vaquero.” He is hesitant but shakes my hand like the clever man he is. “Victoria’s lover.”

“You don’t look like someone named Robert. That is my wife, Mrs Valdes.”
“I am many things I don’t look like,” I respond with a clipped voice. “Pleased to meet you, Mrs Valdes.” I don’t bother with respect after she disgustingly watched my woman. I walk to Victoria and wrap my hand around her waist again. “What happened to your face, may I ask?”

“Just an accident at work.” I nod, kissing Victoria’s temple. “Shall you take us to your celebration?”

“Everyone is waiting on Victoria. Andy changed his mind, and you deserved this promotion.”

“Me? No one brought that to my attention.” She narrows her eyes again and watches me. I smile, and she immediately turns her head. “What made him change his mind? I remember he was persistent about giving you more power on the field.”
