Dao spent his days locked up in his bedroom because of the strict conditions of his probation from the police. He couldn't leave his parent's house, so he became increasingly invested in the digital traces of his life, especially Clarissa's social media accounts, the woman who had been his girlfriend before.
In Dao's eyes, she was perfect; she was the perfect partner who would have helped his job and social standing. He became very angry when he realised that she now belonged to someone else.
As Dao looked through Clarissa's online profile, he couldn't help but be pulled to a short video she had posted. It showed her gorgeous figure in a stunning wedding dress, and her smile was beaming with extraordinary happiness. During the time they were together, he had never seen her smile like that. It showed how happy she was with her new spouse.
There were only a few people at the ceremony, which was meant to be solemn and private. Dao felt angry and sour as he looked at the small celebration.
As Dao clenched his hands, he felt the familiar anger and betrayal running through his body. How dare she move on so easily and find such genuine happiness and satisfaction in someone else's arms? She didn't seem to understand that they were meant to be together and that their marriage would have made him a huge success and affluence
It was painful for him to think that Clarissa, the woman he had worked so hard to make his own, was now someone else's. When Dao thought about her, he was filled with anger, jealousy, and a strong belief that she had hurt him and broken the promise of a future with him.
Trapped in his exile, Dao found himself increasingly consumed by these toxic emotions, unable to find solace or closure. The distance and constraints of his probation only further aggravated his obsession, raising a dangerous spiral of delusion and desperation.
Dao's fingers trembled as he grasped the phone, his mind consumed by a desperate need to make contact. Scrolling through his contacts, he quickly located the number belonging to Andy, Clarissa's closest friend. With a deep breath, he pressed the call button, steeling himself for the impending confrontation.
"Dao, stop calling me," Andy's voice cut through the line, tinged with exasperation. It was clear the young man had grown weary of Dao's persistent attempts to reach him over the past two days.
Andy had been tempted numerous times to simply block the number and ignore Dao altogether, but he knew all too well the stubborn and relentless nature of his former friend's behaviour. Dao was not one to be easily dissuaded, and Andy braced himself for another round of his annoying antics.
"Where's Clarissa now?" Dao pressed, his tone laced with an underlying edge of menace.
"What's the deal with you?" Andy snorted, his disdain palpable. "You can't even get out of your own house, and you're asking about Clarissa's whereabouts?"
"I said, Where the fuck is Clarissa now?" Dao demanded, his voice rising to a near-shout.
"That's none of your business, Dao," Andy replied firmly, unwilling to cave to the other man's aggressive interrogation.
"Andy!" Dao pleaded, a hint of desperation creeping into his tone.
"She's moved on; she's happy," Andy stated matter-of-factly. "And that's all that matters to me." With those final words, Andy terminated the call. Doesn't want to deal with Dao any longer.
Dao's frustration boiled over as he hurled his phone across the room, watching in disgust as it shattered into pieces on the floor. All he had wanted was to speak with Clarissa to confirm whether the rumours of her marriage were true or merely a ruse. But Andy's curt dismissal had only fuelled his anger and desperation.
Before Dao could vent his anger further, a beep from his laptop caught his attention. He hastily swung his legs over the side of the bed and snatched up the device, his heart racing with anticipation. Who could be contacting him now?
As he opened the laptop, his eyes widened in shock as he saw the string of messages from Andy. Accompanying the texts were a series of photographs; each of those pictures shows Clarissa in many intimate moments with a stunning woman with fiery red locks.
The images were candid, unguarded, and utterly convincing—Clarissa's radiant smile and joyful laughter left no doubt that she was genuinely enthralled with her new partner.
The final message from Andy was, "Her name is Enrietta Ardelean; Google her yourself." It's the last text from Andy before he finally blocks Dao.
Andy knows Dao very well and how his mind works; he sent all of those pictures to let him know that Clarissa is happier with Enrietta than with him. Clarissa told her with Enrietta she can be herself; she doesn't have to hide about herself or act like someone else.
