Hidden Pain

13 6 3

My chest aches with a sudden sigh
As words cease, and eyes pass by
A connection lost, without a clue
Assumptions made, and love anew

Their change in tone, a heavy weight
My heart once full, now an empty space
I search for reasons, night and day
But find none, in their distant way

Not my fault, yet I feel the pain
A pang that echoes, like summer rain
I mask my hurt with a hardened face
But inside, a soft and vulnerable place

Torn between pride and heartfelt sorrow
I struggle to express tomorrow
The weight of emotions, hard to bear
A longing to share, without a care

But words remain locked, deep inside
As I wear a mask, and step aside
A silent cry, in the dark of night
A soul that yearns, for love's warm light
