Skylar's p.o.v
I sat in my car staring at the Black residence for 10 minutes before the front door swung open and Jacob walked over to the car with a frown. I sigh collecting my bag and phone from the passenger seat And climbing out "hey Jake" I greater and he smiles softly "I thought that was you, how are you sky?" He asks greeting me with a hug and I sigh "Is your dad around actually I um... I'm worried about niki and I feel like he will have the answers I need" he nods "uh yeah dads inside come in"As we enter Jake calls out "Dad Skylar's here to see you" Billy rolls into the hallway in his wheel chair and smiles "Skylar, what do I owe the pleasure?" I sigh "can we talk ... I know Sam has spoken to you about Niki's dreams and I um..." I frown trying to find the right words before I look back to him "I don't know if they're just dreams anymore"
I sat in my car, staring at the Black residence, feeling the weight of my thoughts pressing down on me. Ten minutes passed, but I couldn't bring myself to move. Finally, the front door swung open, and Jacob strolled over, a frown creasing his face. I took a deep breath, grabbed my bag and phone from the passenger seat, and climbed out.
"Hey, Jake," I greeted, managing a small smile.
He returned it with a softer one. "I thought that was you, Sky. How've you been?"
I hugged him, grateful for the familiarity, and sighed. "Actually, Jake, I'm here because... I need to talk to your dad. I'm worried about Niki, and I feel like he might have the answers I need."
Jacob nodded, understanding the weight behind my words. "Yeah, he's inside. Come on in."
As we walked in, Jake called out, "Dad, Skylar's here to see you!"
Billy rolled into the hallway, his wheelchair gliding smoothly, and his face broke into a warm smile. "Skylar! To what do I owe the pleasure?"
I returned his smile but felt my own wavering. "Can we talk, Billy?" I asked, the gravity of the situation catching up to me. "I know Sam has already mentioned Niki's dreams to you, but... I'm not sure they're just dreams anymore."
Billy's expression grew serious as he motioned for me to join him in the living room. Jacob gave my shoulder a reassuring squeeze before leaving us alone, sensing this was a conversation I needed to have without an audience.
Billy settled himself, his gaze focused, attentive. "Tell me, Skylar. What's changed?"
I took a steadying breath. "It's hard to explain... Niki's dreams used to be more playful, just her wolf friend showing up to keep her company. But now there's a monster—a shadow—attacking her wolf friend, and she keeps describing it in a way that... it sounds too real, like something she's seeing instead of just imagining."
Billy's brow furrowed. "That's a significant change. Children are more intuitive than we give them credit for, especially with a mother like you, who's spiritually in tune."
"Do you think it means something? Like, is there a chance she's sensing something dangerous near us?" The words came out in a rush, my concern spilling over.
Billy considered this carefully. "The line between dreams and visions is thin, especially in times of change. It could be Niki's way of picking up on what's happening around here, her mind translating it into images she can understand. But if she's truly sensing a threat, we should take it seriously."
I nodded, his words both grounding and unsettling me. "So what do I do? How do I help her?"
"Help her feel secure," he said, his voice gentle yet firm. "Reassure her, and let her talk about these dreams freely. It's not about scaring her, but letting her process whatever it is she's picking up on."
Just then, the front door burst open, and Sam strode in with the pack at his heels, their faces etched with urgency. Sam's eyes met mine, and he came over, resting a hand on my shoulder.
"We need to talk," he said, glancing between Billy and me. "There's been a break-in... at Bella Swan's house."
My heart skipped a beat. "A break-in? By who?"
Sam's expression darkened. "We're not sure yet, but there's enough to suggest a vampire may be behind it."
Billy's face tightened. "That's no coincidence."
I felt the fear twisting inside me. Niki's dreams, the shadowed figure attacking her wolf friend—it all felt too close. I knew I needed to protect her, to make sure she felt safe. And now, with this new threat looming, the urgency only intensified.
"Thank you, Billy," I murmured, squeezing his hand before I turned to Sam. "I need to get home to Niki."
Sam nodded looking to Paul "go with your sister get her back home safely I'll be there soon"
