Jennie never had a very close relationship with her parents.

She always acknowledged that they gave her everything they could give in the financial sector. She went to the best schools, the best colleges, had the most expensive clothes and the latest cell phones. However, material possessions are not everything that matters when it comes to raising children. She always felt that something was missing from them. Her mother never sat down to talk to her about anything, never wanted to know how she was doing. If she needed money, she would take it without question. If she needed to travel, she would give her a ticket to anywhere in the world. Now, if she needed a minute of her time to listen to what she was feeling, well, that was too much. In her mind, any problem Jennie had was superficial and not worth her time. It was the same with her father.

That's why it was a huge blow when they decided to move back to Korea overnight. Jennie had grown up in New Zealand, so returning to her home country and adapting to Korean culture was quite a shock, especially at such a young age. And it was at that time that she met Jisoo. The connection with her was instant. And yes, Jennie knew she loved Jisoo, just as she loved her, but before they were lovers they were best friends. And that's what made their relationship so strong. That's why when it's impossible to see her because of so much work, it always sucks. Exactly like what was happening now. Jisoo had just returned from Beijing two days ago, and was already on another business trip.

“Miss Jennie,” Rosé’s voice was loud enough to remind Jennie where she was, and what she was doing.

“Sorry, Park.” She shook her head. “What was the subject?”

“You were telling me about Jisoo’s wedding registry,” Rosé explained. Jennie rolled her eyes when she was reminded of the subject.

— Of course, this nonsense — Kim huffed, crossing her arms. Rosé narrowed her eyes. After finding out that Jennie was in love with Jisoo, it was hard for her not to feel sorry for the girl. That marriage thing must be horrible for her.

— Mr. Kim seems like a very demanding person — Rosé said, trying to change the subject. Anything would be better.

—And such an asshole—Jennie muttered.

— What did you say? — Rosé wanted to know.

— Never mind — Jennie nodded, giving a weak smile. — How was the trip with Jisoo unnie?

— W—What?

— The trip with Jisoo. You came back two days ago, how was it? Did everything go well?

Rosé swallowed nervously. The truth is that she was trying to forget about that trip. Especially because she was still trying to understand what happened that day at the pool. If those security guards hadn't interrupted her and Jisoo, the girl really doesn't know what could have happened. In fact, she had an idea. But she preferred not to think about it too much. It was definitely all in her head.

— Everything went well — Rosé replied as she scribbled in her diary, pretending to write something down.

“Good,” Jennie smiled. “You’ll be doing a lot of international travel when I’m busy, you’ll get used to it.”

Rosé just hoped nothing like that would happen again.

— Excuse me, Miss Jennie — Yeji appeared in the room after three knocks on the door. — There is someone looking for you.

Before Jennie could give the person permission to enter, a woman pushed Yeji and entered the office. She was tall, wearing a black blazer, and wearing sunglasses.

“Mom?” Jennie asked in shock. Yeji left, closing the door.

— Jennie — the woman sniffed. It was clear from the tone of her voice that she was crying.
