Jennie couldn't remember the last time she had been with someone other than Jisoo. Maybe the boy she kissed in the truth and dare game at Irene's birthday party in high school. But it had been so long that it felt like it had happened in another life. For as long as she could remember, Jisoo had been the first in everything. So it was inevitable for her not to feel guilty about the whole situation. It was as if she had betrayed her. And even though Jisoo was engaged and about to marry someone else, she knew that the relationship with Yukhei was nothing more than business. And that she had never even kissed the boy. Unlike what happened between her and Chaeyoung in the bathroom of that nightclub. Until now, she hadn't been able to tell Jisoo, and she didn't even know if she would ever do it.
“Jennie,” the sweet voice called her name. Chaeyoung was sitting in the chair in front of her, a pen in her hands. “I said my schedule is free today.”
— It's okay — Jennie said, waking up.
The girl's behavior since that incident was what worried Jennie the most. All the shyness that Chaeyoung had shown in front of her had disappeared. She no longer felt embarrassed or stuttered when she spoke to her. She had even stopped calling her Miss Jennie. She had never cared about it, but it was strange. Which didn't make sense, it was exactly the opposite. How could she pretend that nothing had happened? Okay, Jennie had asked her to do that, but she believed that the girl wouldn't obey. Chaeyoung didn't seem like the type to ignore something like that.
— Do you want anything else? — Park smiled, writing it down in her diary.
- What?
— Do you need me for anything else? — she rephrased the question. Although it still sounded strange. Or was it just Jennie with her dirty mind.
“No, you can go,” she authorized. Chaeyoung gathered her things and bowed goodbye. Jennie leaned back in her chair with a long sigh.
While Jisoo walked through the company's hallways with the same worries as always. As if it wasn't enough to have to deal with the wedding, her miserable father, the company's problems, now she had to face the situation with Chaeyoung. Jennie had always been the one who brought out the best in her life. No matter what problem she was having to deal with, just seeing the youngest one made her forget everything. Now, when she looked at Jennie, all she could feel was guilt. Although they had never defined exactly what their relationship was, it was obviously more than friendship. In all aspects, they were a couple. And that hadn't changed even with Jisoo getting married.
— Sorry — the woman asked when she felt her body collide with another person, and some papers fall to the floor. That's what happened when you get distracted.
“Okay,” the person said, bending down and picking up everything. It was Chaeyoung, with her smile that lit up the world. Jisoo quickly bent down, helping the girl with the papers. “Thank you.”
— No problem — Kim exclaimed, trying to sound natural. — Are you going to have lunch now?
— In a little while, I just need to finish some things that Jennie asked me to — she informed, showing the documents.
Jisoo narrowed her eyes as she heard the girl refer to Jennie informally. It wasn't like Chaeyoung. She practically had to beg Park to stop calling her Miss. The sound of the younger girl's cell phone startled them both. At a glance, Jisoo saw the name "Joy" flash on the phone's screen.
“You can answer it,” Jisoo authorized when she saw the look on Chaeyoung’s face. The company’s cell phone rules used to be pretty strict. Although it wasn’t something Kim enforced.
— Hi, Joy — Chaeyoung said in a sweet voice. — Now? Sure, okay. It's my lunch break anyway, I'll be right down — she turned off the device and quickly put it away. — Excuse me, Jisoo — she said goodbye, heading towards the elevator.
