sunwoo had been trying to get the older's attention for a bit now. he was staring at god knows what while twirling his pencil between his fingers.

"ow! what was that for?!"

"you're not paying attention"

haknyeon rubbed his head immediately regretting all those time he hit eric with his books even though he deserved it.

"what's wrong?"

"nothing"

"if you're not going to help me study atleast tell me what's got you occupied"

"oh, when did your vocabulary get so sophisticated"

"nevermind"

"well I don't know if it's something I can share with you"

sunwoo flipped through the textbook ignoring the older "okay fine stop asking, I'll tell you"

haknyeon stood up and walked to the kitchen - they were at his house - while he talked.

"so basically person 1 had a crush on person 2 and person 1 made it very clear but I guess person 2 is just really dumb" he took out some pots and ingredients and started cooking.

"are you even listening?"

"I'm waiting to hear the part where this involves me"

"well, it doesn't really involve you. more like a friend of yours"

sunwoo furrowed his eyebrows. he thought for a while. a friend of his? it could literally be anyone.

"wait!"

"what!"

"it's juyeon and eric!"

"how'd you know?"

"as shocking as it may seem I am actually good at math and it wasn't really difficult to put two and two together"

"whatever" haknyeon took out some bowls. sunwoo wasn't actually hungry but whatever the older was cooking smelled really good.

"and this concerns you how?"

"eric is like my little brother and I don't like seeing him hurt. I can see that it's bothering him way more than he lets on but he doesn't want to talk about it"

"he'll come to you when he's ready you can't force him to talk about his feelings"

"I guess you're right" haknyeon dished up the noodles in the bowls and put the different toppings on plates so the younger could pick out what he wanted.

after a few bites sunwoo started laughing making haknyeon furrow his eyebrows. why was he laughing?

"what's so funny?"

"out of all people he falls in love with juyeon"

"it's not funny"

"I know. but really, juyeon? I mean I know his handsome-"

"he's hot"

"not the point. even if he is good looking he's the most clueless person on earth"

"established"

this wasn't the first time they ate and talked like this. it was starting to become a habit. after school they would buy the things they need then haknyeon would cook for the both of them while they studied but obviously you can't talk about school 24/7.

it all started when haknyeon cooked for him as a thank you for that other day at the convenience store.

haknyeon did notice that sunwoo was starting to open up slowly. he was not entirely comfortable yet but he was comfortable enough to talk to haknyeon without arguing with each other. they were even making jokes from time to time but sunwoo still liked his personal space.

"do you like eric?"

"obviously. his my friend, duh"

"no not in that way. like-.....nevermind"

"why?"

"nevermind"

"you do know I'm gay right?"

"......"

"is that what you were trying to ask?"

"....."

"eric is my best friend and I'd never see him in that way"

"you do have a special relationship"

"he was the first person to talk to me when I first moved here and we've been by each other's side ever since. his the donkey to my shrek, the buzz to my woody, the spongebob to my patrick, the tom to my jerry"

"alright I get it"

"do you have someone like that"

"yes, I do"

sunwoo said thinking about juyeon, kevin, chanhee and changmin but he wasn't about to tell haknyeon that.

the conversation ended there. they cleaned up, with sunwoo helping haknyeon with the dishes and went right back to studying.
