Midnight || Sirus Black

chapter 2

Esther sat across the table from Sirius, the boy made her want to throw herself off the balcony before dinner had even started. It was worse now that her Father was discussing things that was happening around the Ministry with Orion. Viola and Walbugra tried to get the two talking to each other but the two were way to stubborn, while Lucius and Regulus sat back amused with everything. The dinner had ended and eveyonw now sat in the drawing room.

"Well I guess we should explain why we're all here." Esther's father spoke while looking at Esther and Sirius. "As you know Esther and Sirius aren't to far from turning 17." Esther's heart sunk, she put together all the pieces,

"We made an agreement when you two were just little babies, so this was bound to happen sooner than later." Orion started, "You two are betrothed, soon to be engaged at the end of summer and wedded following the end of your 7th year." Sirius dropped his glass cup, staring at Orion.

"You can't, no." Sirius looked even paler than his normal state. Esther was stunned, she was way to young to marry. especially Sirius Black.

Summer had passed for Esther faster than she wanted. She would usually curl up in a ball in her room and read any book she could get her hand on, she especially loved Jane Austen works. She was a romantic. But know she was engaged to Sirius Black, which was not romantic at all, she always thought she'd met her lover in a field of flowers and they would dance the night away and run away from everything and everyone. But she was stuck with a boy she had never even spoken a word to till that dreaded day. Sure she may have been overly dramatic with it but she felt her stomach drop every time she thought of the arrangement. Emilia thought that it wasn't half bad as she's making it out to be, in her words "at least you know he can fuck" That was not the point. But she was standing at the Hogwarts express platform boarding for yet another school year..

"Now Esther, I know you and Sirius don't have the best relationship-" Viola started talking but was cut off by her daughter.

"We hate each other," She stated "He's has a reputation of being a man-whore, I will not go out of my way and try to have a love life with that man."

"Man-whore or not you two are engaged" Abraxas Malfoy grabbed ahold of Esther's arm, "I don't need to have your selfishness get in the way of the family's name." Of course he brought up the "family's name sake" Merlin's that all the man cared about. "Now I want you to put effort into this affair, or they'll be consequences of your childish actions."

"Yes, I understand that if I don't try that I'll end up like my dear sister Cassandra." At the mention of The Malfoys eldest the two glared at Esther, knowing full well that pissed them off. Cassandra was not a topic they liked to mention.

"Esther" Her mother said warningly.

"Yes, I know." The train had whistled letting everyone know that it was leaving soon, "Well I must be off." Esther started to way away when her father called out once more,

"Don't forget you will be expected to come home, your engagement party will be head over winter break." Esther groaned and walked away leaving her parents behind. Off to find Emilia to sob to her once again.

"Padfoot!" James Potter yelled

"Prongs" the boy whined at him, "Really?"

"Yes really, "James took the book Remus was reading, "We need to figure out our first prank of the year!"

"Or we could just not" Remus interrupted James before he could go into full detail, looking over at Peter for him to help him,

"Oh-um, I think moony has a point prongs." the Sirius pointed out while in a daze.

"Oh come on guy" the messy haired boy threw himself on the seat beside Sirius who had resumed his day dreaming after being startled. "What's with him?" James questioned Remus pointing at the boy.

"I don't' know, but maybe he's matured?" James's eye's widened, shaking his head at that thought. James started to poke the boy sitting, finally after five minutes of the poking Sirius turned at the poking boy and slapped his hand away.

"Stop that." James kept poking, "Stop it will you." Sirius was about to slap the boy once more when the compartment door opened at slammed shut.

"What the fuck do i have to do to just tell my parents to call off the whole thing or I'll throw myself off the astromony tower?" The girl grumbled to the girl beside her, the two not aware that they walked into a filled compartment, turning around they came face to face with the marauders. "Oh."

"What are you doing here Malfoy?" James spit out, he had dispised her ever since she said red heads are downright weird, making fun of Lily Evans, who he had the biggest crush on.

"Oh you know, plotting my death" Esther rolled her eyes. Emilia the girl beside her slapped her,

"Don't talk like that." she shook her head, "It's not the end of the world"

"Oh but it is." Sirius finally spoke, "I'll join you to, anything to leave this miserable world." He slumped more down into his seat.

"Okay well plan that somewhere else then why don't you."

"James!" Remus yelled at the boy, Esther turned to leave,

"Oh," She turned back to the four boys, "Black did your mother talk to about winter break?" The three boys look at Sirius which just nodded at the blonde who left leaving a sad Sirius Black and to tell them why he wanted to jump off the tower he knew was calling his name.
