"WHERE THE HELL IS IT?" I GROAN, SLIGHTLY FRUSTRATED."You do know we can cast a locator spell, yes?" Ivonna laughs.
I glare at my identical twin as she preps for a locator spell. I didn't understand how something that was my mother's got misplaced and ended up in the hands of another. Ivonna recites a spell as our blood slithers across the map. She was so peaceful as she did this and I was growing more frustrated by the second. My sister was the calm to my storm and we were attached at the hip. Our blood comes to a stop at a place my sister and I know all too well. The place we grew up and left all our memories.
"Mystic Falls, here we come." Ivonna grabs her car keys.
We start our journey to the place we were born. Ivonna fills the car ride with laughter and old stories, while I sit thinking about the parents we lost so long ago. When I come back from my thoughts, I turn to face my sister drinking out of a blood bag. She offers it to me and I take it willingly, taking a sip. I can't remember the last time we were in Mystic Falls, it had been quite some time. We finally reach the Welcome to Mystic Falls sign and it brings back a lot of memories. Like ones of past lovers and lunatic friends. I remember the love my sister felt so strongly here in this one place. I try not to remember my own.
"Look who else is back." Ivonna points to the sidewalk.
Damon and Stefan Salvatore stand talking on the sidewalk. I expect my sister to drive right pass them and head home, but instead she pulls into a parking spot and gets out. I'm quick on her heels asking what's she doing. She ignores me completely and walks over to the Salvatore brothers. Their faces light up with recognition and then sort of frown at the memories they have of my sister and I. They aren't fond ones due to our brunette friend. Ivonna takes this opportunity to wiggle her way into Stefan's heart nonetheless. And if that doesn't work she can compel him just fine.
"Long time no see, Salvatores." I smirk.
"Yea, I would say so." Stefan says.
They stare at each other, a mix of emotions playing behind their eyes. Finally after a few awkward moments, I pull Ivonna towards The Grill. We take a seat and wait to be served. A blonde haired, blue eyed guy comes over with a smile and his name tag reads Matt. Ivonna turns up the charm to the point of compelling. Two seconds ago she was charming her old lover and now she's charming someone else. Matt takes our order and heads off to give it to the bartender. I turn and meet eyes with someone I didn't think I'd ever see again — a Bennett witch. She's dark haired and green eyed and might be an amateur witch now, but I can sense how powerful she actually is.
Her eyes flash with recognition but she has no clue who I am. So I put memories in her head that don't belong to her. The same memories playing behind her eyes plays behind mine and I see Emily standing beside the lake, looking at my sister and I. I force the images from my mind as I watch the Bennett witch's eyebrows furrow together. When the images stop, she takes a closer look at my sister and I.
"Are you alright, Bonnie?" The blonde haired girl asks.
"Yea, I think so." She — the girl I now know as Bonnie — answers.
"She's a Bennett witch." Ivonna states, following my gaze. "It's still a tragedy what happened to Emily."
I nod at my sister and turn towards the door. Katerina comes walking in, smiling and laughing with Stefan. Or so I assumed it was Katerina. Her hair is straight and Stefan actually wants to be with her without being compelled. I push my hair behind my ear and listen in on their conversation. I learn that her name is Elena and she's dating Stefan. She's a Petrova doppelgänger. Katerina was the last doppelgänger I had seen and to see one now was weird. Ivonna's witnessing the same thing as I am and thinking the same thing as well. I mean it doesn't hurt that we have a mystical connection. We can hear each other's thoughts and feel what each other feels.
Ivonna twirls her finger over the rim of her glass, trying to turn her liquor into blood. Someone grabs her hand and stops her from doing so. We both look up to see Sheila Bennett. We might have not been back in Mystic Falls for centuries but we know who Sheila Bennett is. She has the most disgusted look on her face and I know exactly why. Most witches — if not all — hated vampires to death. No pun intended.
"Ms. Bennett, I must say it is an honor to be in the presence of two Bennett witches." I smile, my voice saccharine.
"The Petrovich twins, I've heard a lot about you." Sheila says.
"We seem to get that everywhere we go," Ivonna smirks. "Only good things I hope."
With a few more words exchanged, Sheila leaves. Ivonna pays for our drinks and we head on our way. My sister sends one last look over to Stefan before pushing through the door. I drive back to our house and start unpacking my things. Ivonna leans against the car and looks across the street to the Salvatore house. I can see the memories of 1864 playing behind our eyes. Her short fling with Stefan behind Katerina's back comes to her mind. She leads the way into the house and sets her suitcases down. My sister takes a look around the house with a small smile on her face. I walk over to the living room and pull out a map of Mystic Falls.
"Are you ready, V?" I ask my sister with a small, mischievous smirk.
"Why me? Why can't it be you?" Ivonna crosses her arms.
"Come on, please, V."
I use my sister's nickname in order for her to cave. It works. Ivonna glares before giving up and uncrossing her arms. She takes a seat on the couch, knowing that this type of locator spell hurts like hell. After folding the map into a small square, I burn it to ashes and pour them into a glass of blood. I run my finger along the rim, mixing it together as I recite the spell. Ivonna takes the glass and after much reluctance, takes a couple sips. She keeps her eyes closed, bracing herself for the pain she's about to endure. I take a seat, waiting for the pain and the visions to play out. Ivonna screams out in pain and even if I don't scream, I feel her pain. She screams for a few minutes longer before an image of the Lockwood house appears. There's an office filled with lovely furniture and a few photos. A hideous carpet covers the floor and under the top right corner is a safe in the floor.
Ivonna gasps as she comes back from the pain and glimpses of it all. We knew some Lockwood's way back when, — excluding Mason Lockwood — but this bunch seemed to hate vampires more than the ones we knew. My sister falls back into the couch and shuts her eyes. We both know how many mind tricks will be involved. I only hope, we're the only ones looking for this damn moon stone. The sooner we got out of Mystic Falls, the better.
