Luke couldn't believe the words that were spilling out of his mouth. He'd never been good at talking about his feelings. But he'd been holding onto this secret for so long that he just had to get it out. The fear of scaring Alex away weighed heavily in his chest.

"I don't know what to say." She admitted, her arms folded across the front of her body.

He chuckled nervously, wringing his hands absent-mindedly.

"I wouldn't either."

"So what you said about thinking you'd missed your chance..."

He looked up at her.

"That was the truth. I missed my chance with you, foolishly, several times. I wasn't going to let it happen again."

"And if I'd said no?"

He took a slight pause.

"Then at least I would've known that I tried."

Alex dropped her arms to her side and returned to sit on the couch.

"Thank you for being honest with me."

Before Luke could muster a response, Alex wrapped her arms around his neck. His eyes instinctively closed as he took in the musky scent of her perfume. After she released him, she placed her hands in his.

"Do you think anyone suspects we're seeing each other?"

"Probably not, but I know how to hide a body if they do find out."

She broke her gaze with a hearty laugh. Playfully, she knocked him backwards on the couch and laid on top of him. As she hovered over his lips, he could smell the fruity scent of her lip gloss.

"I wish we'd gotten together sooner," she whispered. "I've been having the time of my life with you."

He lifted his head up slightly, pulling her lips down on top of his. As he kissed her, the pleasure centers in his brain exploded. In that moment, he swore that no drug could have gotten him any higher.
