Chapter 2: the office

Charlottes pov:
We went back to the office I sat on the sofa and scrolled through my phone when I got a message from my ex husband.

Message from dean

D: "I know we aren't on good terms right now but I thought I'd tell you I was wondering if you'd be okay if I took the girls on holiday for 2 and half weeks" I looked at the message with a blank expression on my face thinking of what to say I can't go that long without them I think to myself. Autumn takes notice of my change in body language as she looks over and comes over the kneel in front of me she takes both my hands in hers. "What is it char." Autumn asks looking at me conce t head rned. I passed her my phone, she read the text. "What's wrong in with that." She asked I just looked at her. "I want the to have fun but I don't want to be on my own for that long without them the house is too quite." I say looking away thinking she going to call me pathetic and childish for even saying that. "I'll stay with you or you could stay with me until they get back if want." Autumn says lifting my head to look at her and passing my phone back to me.  "You'd do that for me." I look at her in shock with tears in my eyes nobody has ever been this soft and caring to me but it shocks me more that it's autumn to be the one that is when usually she's a heard shell and doesn't show emotion but she's different with me. "Of course I would char now reply to him so I can get on with replying to emails. She says and smiles at me warmly I see something in her eyes but I can't figure out what it is. 

Message to dean:
C: "yeah that's fine you can take them away will it just be you and the girls" I replied.

D: "no it will be me, the girls and my parents" he said.

C: "ye that's fine tell the girls I love them and I can't wait to see them after they get back off holiday" I said smiling slightly.

D: "ok will do" he said.

D: "they said they love you too and can't wait to see you either" I smiled properly that time.

C: "okay thanks dean bye."

He replied bye and then autumn went to her computer to reply to emails when a parent came into the office.

Autumns pov:
Char replied to her message from her ex-husband and then I went to my computer to reply to some emails all that was on my mind was that Charlotte is going to be staying with me for 2 and half weeks and then a parent walks into the office bringing my out of my thoughts.

"Autumn" the parent says causing me to look up at her. "Yes what can I help you with" I reply in my normal tone.  "Nothing I was just wondering why Charlotte is in here and not working in the rooms." She says and looks at Charlotte . "I don't think that is any of your business." I say looking over to Charlotte and then back to the parent.  " she's being lazy and wants attention okay I saw her yesterday at Reece's nursery crying when I was dropping off my sisters child." The parent says and charlotte has tears in her eyes and she runs out of the office and I turn back to the parent. "What gives you right to talk about that woman like that you have no right." I say raising my voice towards her and she goes to say something. "Get out of this building now before I drag you out." I say cutting her off before she speaks. "No I won't get out I pay to be here." She says and something snaps inside of I stand up and grab her and drag her out by her hair we get to the car park and I slap her. "Now get off the property or you will be banned from ever stepping foot here again and you ever speak about any staff member again i will do worse than slapping you. She runs off and gets in her car and drives out as fast as her could I go back to the office looking for char but she hasn't gone back there so I go to the staff room and she's not there. I go to the bathroom and hear slight crying. "Char" I say my tone softened. She didn't respond I knock on the door but she doesn't move for the stall. "Char it's me she's gone please open the door." I plead with her but she still doesn't respond. " that's it char I'm coming in." I kick the door in to see Charlotte with her knees up to her chest and her sleeves rolled up and cuts all up her arms deeper than before. I wrap my arms around her and soothe her I'm not particularly fond of hugs or physical contact but with char it's different. She falls into my embrace and breaks down more. "Shh char I'm here I've got you darling." I say to her rubbing her back. She clams down and her sobs turn into sniffles. "I need to look at your arms and clean them char." I say and she just nods at me. We stand up and go into the office. "Can I look at your arms please char." I ask her. "Okay" she says quietly and I clean her arms up and bandage them.
