Zara walked to the car in silence, her face blank as she tried to process the weight of her encounter with Ibrahim. Nancy started the engine, her eyes flickering over to Zara in quiet worry. For the first few minutes, the car filled with nothing but the low hum of the road beneath them. Eventually, Nancy couldn't keep her curiosity at bay. She looked at Zara hesitantly and asked, "Is everything... okay?"
Zara was so lost in her own turmoil she didn't even hear Nancy. She was caught up in the relentless storm of emotions battering her heart. Finally, Nancy gave her a gentle shake, breaking her trance.
"Yes, what?" Zara mumbled, looking at Nancy with empty eyes.
"Are you okay?" Nancy asked again, watching her carefully.
Zara forced a small, tight smile and nodded. "Yeah, I'm fine." But her eyes betrayed her, filled with a sadness so deep that it was impossible to hide.
"So... how did things go with Sir?" Nancy pressed, though she already guessed the answer.
Zara's gaze drifted forward, her voice barely a whisper. "Beyond repair."
Nancy's eyes softened, and she reached over, placing a comforting hand on Zara's lap. "Everything will be alright," she murmured, trying to soothe her.
Zara glanced at her friend, offering a faint smile, genuinely grateful for Nancy's support. It was a rare, precious thing in a world that felt otherwise unforgiving. She then gathered herself and asked, "What's the progress on the plan?"
Nancy nodded. "Everything's under control. I've gathered my most trusted friends, and they're with us, one hundred percent. They won't betray us, or say a word to Sir. So we're good."
Relief flickered across Zara's face. "That's really good, Nancy. So... when can we move forward?" Nancy checked her watch and then looked toward the street. "Maybe tonight, if that works for you."
Zara nodded. "Perfect. Tonight, then."
They reached her apartment, and Nancy parked the car. She turned to Zara, her face tight with concern. "Zara, please think about this. It's dangerous. I don't want you taking such a big risk."
Zara let out a heavy sigh, her voice breaking as she spoke. "Nancy, I can't keep living like this, seeing Ibrahim hate me. Last night, I... I thought of killing myself and ending it all." Her voice shook as she recalled the haunting feeling.
"But even if I were gone, it wouldn't change anything. He'd still believe I betrayed him, and I could never clear my name. He will hate me forever. That's why I came up with this plan. If I die trying, at least... at least he won't see me as a traitor."
Tears filled her eyes, and Nancy, heartbroken for her friend, pulled her into a tight hug. "I'll be there for you, Zara. I'll protect you with everything I have." Zara smiled.
They headed inside, prepared food for lunch. They were eating and discussing their plan one last time. Later, they met with Nancy's trusted friends in a quiet, abandoned alley. Nancy introduced Zara, and the team greeted her respectfully, sensing the gravity of her presence.
Together, they went over the details, finalizing everything. They decided to meet again at 8 o'clock that night. The plan would be executed tonight, no matter the cost. After discussing everything in detail, the group dispersed, each member prepared for what lay ahead.
Back at the apartment, Zara and Nancy began getting ready. Zara couldn't stop herself; she walked to Nancy's room and stood in the doorway, her eyes pleading. Nancy sighed, narrowing her eyes knowingly. "What do you want me to do now, Zara?"
