the heatwave is still doing on. since the 5th of June. i think i am only half alive.
today, to add insult to injury, my shuffle offered this song, and it is a huge favorite of mine; the band is quite good as a whole, although not world-famous.
so, i decided to check the video, and also - the comments. lately, the comment section is more fun to read than watching a vid or reading a post.
i was kind of surprised to notice that everybody there considered the inspiration for this song to be the Bronte book "Jane Eyre". well, as someone who is smarter than most ( this is my curse in life), i can tell you: FALSE.
actually, the inspiration for this song is the prequel to "Jane Eyre" very few people know about, but which i prefer. i think i read "Jane Eyre" when i was 15 or 16, in the original, as i was preparing for University. but then, once i got into my Major, we studied the Feminist movement, before it got twisted and corrupted, as it is now - a force, allowing you to be loud, disrespectful and an awful human being - politics does that to anything it touches.
nevermind. so, we studied "The Wide Sargasso Sea". and i fell in love with its brutality.
later, i found out that there is a movie, next to the book, and i watched it. Mr Rochester was depicted truthfully, as the swine the British usually were, back in the 18th-19th century, and still are - in the 20th-21st century too. i think the non-consensual sex scenes are gonna stay with me as long as i breathe, coz... yea... i have been there too.
also, the idea of a Sea without shores fascinated me strongly.
if anyone ever reads this, and if you care about your body, and your partner's body, moreover -if you are a fan of the ridiculously badly-written "Jane Eyre", i recommend you watch this, and you read this.

There are two sides to every story
Do you want to hear my version of the allegory?
I used to be
Beautiful and enigmatic
Now they call me the madwoman in the attic
Well, I sure as hell am madI tried to warn you, my foolish replacement
So you wouldn't turn to be the madwoman in the basementYou loathed my free spirit
And locked me up so you could kill it
My crimes being
Self-willed and decadent
Wouldn't you turn malevolent?
I'm going to burn it all, I'm going to burn down Thornfield HallI tried to warn you, my foolish replacement
So you wouldn't turn to be the madwoman in the basementMadwoman, madwoman, madwoman in the attic
A strange wild animal, a beast, a manic
Madwoman, madwoman, madwoman in the attic
A strange wild animal, a beast, a manic
Madwoman, madwoman, madwoman in the attic
A strange wild animal, a beast, a manic
