Gemini Pov:
The image of Scorpio laughing, leaning in close to that girl, played over and over in my mind. I clenched my jaw, the memory cutting deeper each time I replayed it. They'd looked so comfortable, so... intimate. The way his smile had softened, that look in his eyes—it wasn't something I'd ever seen from him, especially not around me. The worst part was how easily he'd seemed to drop the guarded edge he usually carried. I hated how much it bothered me. Hated how stupid it made me feel.
We were just friends. Barely even that. Yet, here I was, replaying every second of what I'd seen, my anger twisting tighter until I felt like I was going to explode. It was like some kind of itch under my skin that wouldn't go away. I needed to do something, and just messing with a few lights or pulling a small prank wasn't going to cut it this time. I needed to make an impact, to blow off this steam so it would finally leave me alone.
So I grabbed my jacket, pulled on my shoes, and set out into the night.
The subway station on the west side of town was dark and mostly empty. The occasional flickering light above cast eerie shadows across the platform, but that was it. The perfect setting for a little chaos. If I could disrupt the main subway lines—even for a few hours—it would create a wave of problems through the city, and it would force everyone, even Scorpio, to see just how much power I had. Maybe it would be enough to remind him what he was missing.
I found the main electrical room hidden behind a maintenance door and slipped inside. The room was filled with thick cables and power boxes, each one buzzing with energy. I could feel the hum vibrating through the floor, charging the air around me, feeding the simmering rage that had been building all night. I let the feeling grow, focusing on the wires, tapping into the gravitational energy inside me, and letting it expand.
The whole room seemed to shudder as I exerted my power, bending the cables, and shifting the gravitational field until they strained against each other. The lights on the platform flickered, dimming and brightening as I let the energy pulse outwards, the power bending and distorting around me.
Then, the first crack echoed through the station as one of the main power conduits split, sending a cascade of sparks flying. I grinned, pouring more energy into it, letting my power expand in waves that rippled out, shaking the entire structure. The whole station trembled as the cables started to snap, one by one. I felt the air growing heavier as the pressure built, and then—
The platform shook as the overhead lights shattered, plunging everything into darkness. I heard the screech of a train grinding to a sudden halt as the tracks powered down. The silence that followed was filled with a heavy tension, thick with energy. My heart pounded with exhilaration as I stepped back to admire the damage, my breath coming in short, rapid bursts.
But then I noticed something—an unsettling, groaning sound above me. I looked up, and through the dim emergency lights, I saw it: a huge metal beam hanging loosely from the ceiling, barely clinging to its supports. The gravitational field I'd created had shifted, and it was bending everything in the room, including the structure above me. The beam trembled, shuddering as it finally gave way, snapping loose and plunging toward me.
I tried to throw myself backward, my mind racing to focus my powers and slow its descent, but it was too late. I was too exhausted, my energy drained from the chaos I'd already unleashed. I could only stare in shock as the massive beam hurtled down, the weight of it growing heavier as it gained speed.
Suddenly, a shadow appeared in front of me. I barely had time to process it before a strong arm wrapped around my waist, pulling me back with a speed that left me breathless. The beam crashed to the ground, sending a deafening echo through the empty station as it crushed the spot where I'd been standing just seconds ago.
