~Chapter 76~

The alpha wasn't really an early bird, but since his wife was absent he practically didn't sleep the whole night. More like worried about Felix, he could imagine Felix struggling with morning sickness. He sighed, dropping his gaze to his phone there was no notification. He gasped turning to the other side.

"It's my birthday today," he murmured to himself with a pout, "and he haven't wished me yet," he gasped, hands clutched on the phone.

Asking himself, since when he got too attached to the Omega, he smiled more to himself before a bang on his door intrupted his thoughts.

He turned to the door where someone was constantly knocking, making him bewildered who it could be in this early morning. In a corner of his heart he almost imagine it to be his Omega popping in front of him with a surprise, that made him giddy, he abruptly slipped out from the bed.

Making sure to put a t-shirt on, since there was no certainty. As he opened the door his smile and anticipation slightly dropped.

"Happy birthday my son," there was his mother standing at the doorway with the widest grin on her lips, she had a box wrapped in a shimmering silver paper, topped with a delicate bow. Hyunjin's heart sank a little; it wasn't the surprise he had been secretly hoping for, but he quickly masked his disappointment with a grateful smile.

"Thank you, Mom" he said, stepping forward to hug her. She squeezed him tightly, a warmth and comfort he couldn't help but appreciate, though a part of him still ached to see Felix standing there instead.

His mother pulled back, studying his face with a gentle smile. "You look… tired," she remarked softly. "Didn't get much sleep?"

Hyunjin chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck. "I guess I didn't," he admitted, trying to downplay it. "Just... too many things on my mind."

Mrs. Hwang's expression changed, worry etched instantly, "oh, my son," she gently brushed his hair off. Hyunjin gave her a reassuring smile, "no mom it's fine," he said with a convincing tone. Mrs. Hwang nodded.

"Oh okay then, come downstairs, I have prepared the breakfast for you and we will go to shopping after," she said alredy had prepared a plan. Hyunjin hesitantly smiled, honestly he had planned a date for his wife on his special day but since his mother wanted them to go shopping, it'd be even great they all go together.

He beamed, "okay mom, I think Felix will return in a few hours then we will go together," he said. Mrs. Hwang masked her dissapointment with a smile, "how long Felix will take? We should do hurry you know there is a grand party for your birthday so I ain't messing around," her tone masked with a playfulness.

"No worry mom, Felix might be on his way," he said. Mrs. Hwang just nodded, clearly displeased but didn't protest further rather she made a mental note to make Hyunjin hurry.

"We can't wait Hyunjin, just get ready and come downstairs, from when you become this disobeying you little kitten," she said playfully twisting Hyunjin's ear. Who was taken a back, not even reacting at her playful gestures.

"Oh" her face dropped, heart felt a pang of rejection, she almost forgot that Hyunjin was no more like before who would joke and laugh with his mother. "Come downstairs," she said with a barely stable voice, heading back as if she was holding the outburst.

"Noona, how it is?" Felix bit upon his lips, nervously watching Chearyeong savouring the brownie as she was the special master chef judge of today for Felix's brownies. "Mhm.." she hummed at the taste, deliberately taking time to answer.
