We all moved rapidly and swiftly through the graveyard, all three of us - Me, Dreoda and Dala - following Avids lead, as he ran infront of us as our guide. Avid apparently had been given very vague and approximate coordinates of the location where the Infestation is located at inside the graveyard, which meant that it was supposed to be there, however there was a chance that it wasn't there.
Basically, we were rolling dice — if that makes sense. If the Infestation wasn't at the coordinates that Avid had, then we would be forced to search for it through the entire Deadmans Graveyard, considering that letting it grow for too long could cause disastrous consequences - especially since both towns of Ordial and Hidial were not very far from here.
Just a couple of kilometres at max.
As we moved through, I felt the air and atmosphere around us become more grim and more heavy on my chest, as the density of the magical energy around us increased.
"Considering the density of the Magical Energy around here, I believe it is safe to say that we are getting closer to the infestation."
Avid commented, before throwing a look back at us three.
"Be on your guard. We don't want to fall into the infestation and get ourselves killed."
He added, before turning his gaze back away. Dala and Dreoda simply nodded, while I shed a slight sweat. It had been a little while since I had last been inside of an infestation — I would even say at the very least, it has been two years since my last visit to an infestation.
I still remember that Infestations were detectable easily via just paying attention to ground infront of you and below you, since they were mostly crater like areas filled with monsters and a Monster Heart in the middle of said monsters.
Speaking of the Monster Heart, that thing is very nasty. If left unsupervised or taken care of for too long, it could eventually be a catalyst for two very dangerous events. Best case scenario, it becomes a Stampede — an event in which the monsters just rush towards the nearest inhabited area - which in this case would be the town of Ordial.
Worst case - it becomes an Outbreak, an event that basically causes all the monsters to go through something called 'hyperevolution' which turns all of them into very dangerous and powerful monsters before all of the monsters spread out around a large area, infesting it.
Anyways, back to the present situation — we had traversed a lot of ground very swiftly, leaping over boulders and sticking by Avids side to the best of our abilities — even when he did sharp turns and began sprinting a different way, leading us even deeper and deeper into the Graveyard. The air became more and more intense feeling and heavy, as we slowly began to approach the infestation. The sheer density of Magical Energy around us at this point, was enough to knockout a Sage - or in other words, would cause instant death to any individual that wasn't specially prepared for enduring such density of Magical Energy.
The Magical Energy just kept creeping in strength and density, more and more until — we eventually all stopped at a cliffedge. Infront of us was a large, crater like area, which went down atleast fifteen or so meters down into the ground as an indent.
Dala looked at the crater, with her eyes widening in shock and slight fear as she backed up a bit, hiding slightly behind Dreoda, who scuffed and crossed his arms.
"Well I'll be damned.."
He commented under his breath quietly, as I approached from the back and looked at the sight infront of us. My eyes immediately widened in shock as soon as I saw what the Infestation ground was filled with.
