The Canary in the Willow

Im being hunted- Jess

I get these chills and then I know something is wrong. I trust my instincts and they are saying "HELLO STUPID, YOU'RE BEING WATCHED AND FOLLOWED BY THE MINUTE" and I was looking around for any malice, suspicious looking character or maybe characters. Well there's the old lady by the flower shop, she looks suspicious holding those tulips probably completely fake cover story much... Wait a second I must be going insane accusing an innocent old women of being a master criminal or what? Geez am I paranoid, you know what maybe this time my instincts are wrong, I might as well just go home, and like that I left.

When I got home grabbed my phone to text Matthew and Jamie. I turned it on and read my message from some random number, it read: You are being hunted, run, run far they are coming we are here to take you and your little buddies out hide for your sake." Crap! I was so right. "Mom, I'll be right back ok?"
"Sure honey, lunch will be ready in about half an hour, be back by then ok?"
"Ok, bye"
I sprinted to Matthew's house he lives only about a block away, I knocked on the door and rang the doorbell a couple of times until he opened the door.
"Oh god am I glad it's you, come here."
"Matthew what's wrong?"
"Jess, look at this text, I'm being hunted and the other day I was pinned down in the alley by people looking for a rare bird? What the heck I have no clue about any bird."
"Oh my god, I got the same text... What about Jamie? We need to go check on him, now!"
We ran downstairs and asked Matthew's dad if We could go over to Jamie's place. He gave permission and we ran, all the way to Jamie's house. It looked empty and I was worried, let's go ring the doorbell. Jamie's mom answered the door, "ma'am this is urgent, we need to see Jamie." Matthew said, politely yet sternly. "Jamie, oh dear he must be sick or something he has gone completely insane!"
"Oh god, can we see him please?"
"Oh sure."
"Jamie!" We ran up the stairs towards his room and burst in. "Mmm pretty hair." He said gesturing towards Matthew, "Jamie what's wrong with you?" He asked. "No, no not again." Jamie replied worried. "Jamie spit it out." I said strictly. "J-j-Jess look this is about the third time this car has driven passed our driveway, they are coming guys, they know." He said and closed the blinds immediately. "Matthew, he's not telling us something... Jamie what did you do." I said. So Jamie went into detail about the canary and the guy he met, what these guys wanted as where it is now. "Jamie you are madly insane, doing something like that, you are so stupid."
"Jamie is not stupid, he's protecting us, you should be thanking him." I replied in his defense. I have to say though what he did was completely stupid, Matthew was right, as usual... Jamie had....
