I sat at the table, waiting for my parents. They had no idea about what kind of surprises were awaiting them here. I was actually going to speak to them and they would meet Chase. I glanced to my left at Chase and he smiled at me. He looked amazing in a nice dark grey suit with a blood red tie. I was squeezing his hand tightly under the table but he didn't complain. I was so terrified. Suddenly, Emily put her phone down on the table with a loud clatter. I glanced at her in confusion. She looked angry. Like, angry as in ready to murder somebody.
"They're staying an extra week." She snapped. I winced and lowered my head.
"Crap. Seriously?" I muttered. My grip on Chase's hand relaxed and he took a deep breath.
"Emily, if you would like, I could call you a taxi. I think it would be nice if Belle and I took advantage of the reservations. Unless you would like to stay as well?" Chase looked around me at my sister. She scowled.
"No. Take them. I'll call the cab on my own. Thanks though." She forced a smile and she stood up, leaving the restraunt quickly. I frowned and glanced at Chase.
"She's upset because she was excited that they were finally coming home." I explained quietly. Chase nodded and then he stood up from the booth, going around to the other side. He sat down and he smiled in that charming way of his. I blushed.
"So are we just going to eat dinner?" I asked curiously. Chase smiled.
"We could always just skip the dinner and go straight for dessert." He replied in his sultry tone. I gasped and kicked him under the table.
"Shut up! Not funny." I told him. Chase chuckled and smirked.
"I was only joking. But what are you going to get?" He asked, pointing at my menu. I didn't even have to open it. My family ate here all the time.
"Their seafood alfredo is amazing." I replied. I smiled as I watched him open the menu and scan the options.
The air was chilly as we stepped outside. I pulled my small cardigan closer around myself and I shivered. Fat snowflakes were drifting slowly down from the thick gray clouds that were pressing down on the city. My breath rose in sparkling, dancing clouds of mist and slowly faded into the night. Chase smiled down at me and hugged me close.
"Alright, just hold onto my neck and don't let go." He told me. I reached up and wrapped my arms around his neck as he pulled me up against him so that my feet were off the ground. Then his wings materialized and he gave them a huge flap. I gasped as we flew straight up into the air. Chase held me tightly as we shot up and up and up. I gasped as I saw how high up we really were. I tightened my grip around Chase's neck and pressed my face against the space between his collarbone. After several minutes, Chase's voice commanded me.
"Open your eyes."
I cautiously opened my eyes and I sighed as I saw that we were on the fire escape of my penthouse. I smiled and looked at Chase. I then bent toward the window and silently pulled it open. I then slipped through and Chase followed, closing the window behind him. I glanced over my shoulder at him and I could see that his wings had faded away again. I then turned and proceeded to my room. Chase closed the door right behind him just as I collapsed onto my bed.
"That waiter was such a weirdo." I told him. Chase laughed. He leaned over me and put his hands down on either side of me, keeping himself above me. I raised my hands and put them on the sides of his face.
"You look ravishing." He told me in a whisper. I smiled and blushed.
"You're lying." I whispered back. Chase smiled and leaned down, pressing his lips to the crook of my neck. He gently kissed me there and slowly moved his lips up until they reached my lips. I smiled as he smirked. He then kissed me very passionately. I kissed him back as he moved his hands down my hips and to the zipper of my ruby red dress. I kept my lips on his as I reached to the collar of his shirt and started to untie his tie. I succesfully got his tie undone and I pulled it off. Chase pulled away for a moment and he hastily pulled his jacket off. I smiled and he bent back down, kissing me again. I closed my eyes and kissed him back with a passion. Chase carefully started to pull my cardigan off and I started to unbutton his white undershirt. I slowly worked each button until I got them all undone and Chase's hard chest was exposed. I gently trailed my fingertips across his abdomen, making him gasp. I smiled and reached toward Chase's belt. He suddenly stopped my hand and pulled away.
"Sorry to stop this, but I don't know that we should." He told me. I bit my lip and took multiple deep breaths
"Yeah. Yeah, that makes sense. I wasn't thinking." I replied. Chase pushed himself back into a standing postition and he ran a hand through his hair, making it go wild. I flushed as I felt my heart hammering in my ribs. I carefully sat up and I stood, carefully moving around Chase. Had I seriously been prepared to...? I bit my lip as I reached for an oversized T-shirt and pulled the closet door closed so I could change. I emerged to see that Chase was sprawled on my bed, his eyes closed and his shirt still open. I went to the door and flipped off the light switch. I turned and saw that Chase looked amazing in the moonlight. It fell directly onto his face and made him look very mystifying. I smiled and went to the side of the bed that he wasn't taking up. I carefully slipped under the covers and I felt Chase's arm move over my waist. I closed my eyes and put my hand under my pillow.
I opened my eyes to the sound of my name. I glanced around and I saw that Chase was sitting up. He was pointing out the window at the sky. I looked there and I was surprised to see that the sky was clear and stars were shooting down from the sky. I looked at Chase groggily.
"They're beautiful." I told him, smiling feebly. Chase smirked and he wrapped an arm around my lower back and he scooped me into his arms. I put my hand on his shoulder and curled into a ball as he lifted me off the bed. I smiled and buried my head against his chest. I kept slipping in and out of consciousness, but I could tell that he was taking me up onto the roof.
I felt something brush against my cheek and I opened my eyes. Chase was grinning down at me.
"You really must be tired." He told me. I rolled my eyes and nodded groggily.
"Yeah... So what are we doing up here?" I mumbled. Chase chuckled as I sat up. We were sprawled on a blanket on the roof, the stars spread out above us. Chase smiled up at the stars.
"See, the thing is: those weren't shooting stars or whatever rubbish humans come up with. Those were Zarthians coming to Earth." Chase told me. It took a minute to process this. When I did, my eyes widened and I gasped.
"More Zarthians? Coming? Here?" I exclaimed in surprise. Chase frowned.
"Yeah, I'm confused too. But I know where they were headed. It's where all the new arrivals go." He told me, looking off into the distance. I frowned and glanced at where he was looking. I couldn't tell anything by what I was seeing. I only saw the bright city lights. I sighed and laid back down on the blanket. I curled into a ball and closed my eyes.
"Do we have to deal with them?" I mumbled. Chase put a hand on my back.
"No. I'll make sure they don't bother you." He replied. I nodded and took a deep breath. I was so tired, that I just let myself fall back asleep and let myself slip back into the dreamland.
