Chase smirked down at me.
"Oh you listen here, Belle. There's no way you're escaping this night." He told me with a grin. I fake pouted.
"Even if it means that we get to skip dinner with my parents?" I suggested. Chase looked thoughtful for only a second before shaking his head.
"Much as I don't like your parents, they invited Troy and Daniella. We can't miss that, now can we?" He teased. I laughed as he suddenly swooped me up into his arms. My laughter was suddenly joined by that of our six year old daughter and our adopted ten year old boy. They ran into the room, chasing each other and ran in circles around us. Chase set me down. and we chuckled as I scooped up Cassidy. She giggled in my arms and looked up at me with her huge blue eyes. She looked completely surprised.
"Mummy!" She exclaimed before hugging me tightly. I laughed and hugged her back before leaning down and putting her down again. I straightened and glanced at my watch. It was an elegant silver watch that Chase had gotten me for my birthday. I sighed as I realized that we were slightly running late for our dinner. Mom and Dad had come for a visit in the new town that we had moved to, Stockholm. It was in Sweden, and considering we had been living there for about a year, I had learned Swedish to be able to talk to the people in our new country.
Chase and I had agreed to move to Sweden to maybe get a new taste of culture and life. We had also both been nervous about staying in New York, so we had ultimately decided that moving away would help. And it had. We had no worries about Zarthians finding us at all.
"Jag tänker att vi bör få gå. Det är nästan dags för matställe." I said in flawless Swedish. I think we should get going. It's almost time for dinner. Chase glanced away from Ian, our son.
"Godkännande. Vad som helst du säger, älsklingen." He replied back. Okay. Whatever you say, darling. He quickly looked down at our two children.
"Alright. Tiffany will be here-" a knock on the door made him pause, and I went to answer it. "- Tiffany is here, so behave and be good little delinquents." He told them both. I opened the front door of our flat and saw the babysitter, Tiffany, standing there, her coat collar turned up against the wind. I beamed at her and ushered her inside. I closed the door and turned to look at her.
"It's good to see you, Tiffany, dear. The only thing I ask is that you have them eat the leftovers in the fridge. Cass and Ian should both be able to get the spaghetti finished off. And you're welcome to anything you'd like." I explained to her. Tiffany smiled and looked down at our two munchkins. They were chasing each other yet again and Ian was trying to grab hold of Cass's dark black plait.
"Of course. Thank you, Mrs. Roberts. They'll be well taken care of. Now go, have fun!" She told me, bobbing her blonde head and smiling enthusiastically. I smiled and held out my hand for Chase's. He took it and we both ventured out into the chilly evening. Chase closed the flat door behind us and we started down the stairs.
The restaurant was quiet as we entered, and my eyes slid to where I could see my parents seated with our two Swede best friends, Troy and Daniella. As soon as Dad saw us coming toward the table, he got to his feet and gave us a huge smile. I grinned back. Mom stood as well, and we all hugged. After hugs were distributed, I settled into a seat across from Dad and next to Troy. Chase sat on my other side and we all settled into comfortable banter. I glanced at the menu in front of me and began trying to decide what to order. I was happy and content, with my parents and my husband, and my best friends all sitting together at a table, talking and joking. I was happy that I had left my crazy and bizarre life behind in New York, and had come to Sweden. Everything had settled down, and I was so happy in my life.
"Oh, Isabelle, you have to tell your mother about the article you were writing last week for the paper!" Troy exclaimed. I laughed.
"Oh, yes. I got assigned to write this story about law firms, and I discovered something! Are you really expanding your firm to Europe, specifically Sweden?" I asked curiously. Mom chuckled. Over the past few years, our relationship had been reconciled and we were no longer strangers. I called her almost every other day.
"I am, actually. I just somehow got this amazing idea about how I could expand, and it gave me a chance to come visit my daughter and son-in-law more often!" She replied with a genuine smile. I laughed and looked at Chase. He was smiling.
Everything was perfect, and we lived happily ever after.
Okay. So I know for some of you it might be unsatisfactory, so I may or may not have decided that I might be writing a sequel! About the other race, the Dithora. And it will definitely not be as cliche filled as this one. And considering this is my first real book, I think this was a pretty big success on my part! Thank you all so much for reading this story, and thanks you so much for dealing with all of my plot twists, bad spelling, editing and all of my self-conscious editing moments. I look forward to writing more stories and I look forward to reading yours! Thank you all!
Please vote, share and leave a comment! And if you have ideas for my Dithora story, I do hope that you will drop a message in my inbox, and I will make sure to attempt to put them into the next book!
Thanks, peace out!
