My eyes fluttered open to the sound of my alarm blaring loudly. I groaned and turned over. I opened my eyes again and I saw that Chase wasn't there anymore. My heart sped up and I sat up in surprise. Where had he gone? I jumped out of bed and stumbled toward my door, throwing it open. I heard laughter from the living room and I hurried that way. I entered the living room and I froze. Chase and Emily were sitting on the couch, each with a mug of coffee in their hands.
"Um..." I said. They both turned their heads to look at me and Chase smiled cheerfully.
"Hey Belle! Come, sit! We were just talking." He told me with a big grin. I smiled back tentatively and glanced at the clock on the wall above the elevator. It was 6:30. We had an hour and a half to get ready. I could probably hang out for a little bit. I went and sat beside Chase. He held his cup of coffee out to me and I took it, taking a sip. I actually liked it. I smiled and handed him his coffee back.
"So what were you guys talking about?" I asked, leaning against Chase's shoulder. He wrapped an arm around my waist and pulled me close to him.
"We were just sharing some funny childhood memories." He replied. "Emily was just telling me about when you two were still in elementary school and you used to play 'princesses'." He continued. I flushed and threw a nervous glance at Emily. She giggled and she started to get up.
"I'm going to go finish getting ready for work." She called as she went to the kitchen. I sighed and laid my head against Chase's shoulder.
"She's so evil." I muttered. Chase chuckled and he put a hand under my chin, turning my face to look up at him. He held his face only inches away from mine and he smiled.
"So, are you ready to see what everybody at school thinks about your new voice?" He whispered. I blushed as he brushed his lips against mine. My heart skipped a beat and I took a deep breath. I looked down at Chase's lips and then back up into his eyes.
"Ready as I'll ever be." I replied. Chase smiled and he pressed his lips to my forehead. I closed my eyes and smiled as his lips lingered on my skin for a second. Then, he pulled back and he stood up, offering his hand to me. I took it and he pulled me up. Suddenly, Chase spun me around like a dancer and he laughed as we spread apart. I looked at him in surprise.
"I don't dance." I quickly said. Chase grinned and he took my hands in his, placing them on his shoulders.
"You do now." He replied as he put his hands on my hips. I bit my lip and flushed as he began to spin me around like we were at some clichè dance. I laughed at times as we were dancing. Suddenly, new laughter joined ours and I looked up to see that Emily was taking a video of us. I gasped and lunged for her phone. But she jerked it away and hurried down the hall to her bedroom door.
"Ooooh! Chris is going to love this!" She called. I cried out her name but she slammed her door and I turned in defeat to look at Chase.
"She's really going to send that?" He asked in astonishment. I nodded solemnly.
"Emily may put on a good show, but she is all sorts of evil." I replied. Chase laughed in a carefree way that made my heart leap into my throat.
"I don't mind that she's sending it to Chris. It's better he finds out now than to find out during school today or something." Chase teased. I rolled my eyes and grinned at him.
