FLASHBACK:
"Ouch! Can you watch where you're going? That hurts!" Gulf exclaimed, as he bumped into a tall guy in the hallway.
"S-sorry, I didn't mean to. Does it hurt?" the guy replied.
"Does it look like it doesn't? Is your body made of stone or something? It's so hard!" Gulf said irritably.
The tall guy just stared at him.
"What are you looking at?" Gulf asked.
"Because you're beautiful. By the way, I'm Axel Mew Jongcheevevat, but you can call me Mew," the guy introduced himself.
"And? Do you think I care? Move out of the way! You're blocking my path!" Gulf said, pushing past him and bumping Mew's shoulder.
"Sorry, Mew. Gulf's just in a bad mood today, you know how he is," Mae apologized.
"Nothing new there. But it's okay. it never changes, no matter how grumpy he gets," Mew said with a smile, watching Gulf from a distance.
"And you still won't give up even though he rejected you? You're really tough, huh?" Mae said, shaking her head. Then, she followed Gulf down the hallway.
They were in their first year of college. Gulf was the youngest child and grandchild of the Traipipattanapong family, one of the wealthiest and most powerful clans in the country. He had transferred two years ago due to a scandal he was involved in. As punishment, he was sent to the provinces to finish his education, far away from the family's main residence. It was there that he met Mew.
Mew also came from a wealthy family, but his background was nothing compared to Gulf's. Gulf's family had vast resources and influence, while Mew's wealth was more understated, though still significant. They became classmates, and despite their differing personalities and backgrounds, a sense of rivalry seemed to grow between them. Gulf, spoiled and often condescending, was feared by many in school. His wealth, arrogance, and reputation were hard to ignore, and many students avoided him or kept their distance.
However, this didn't stop Mew from admiring Gulf, despite his haughty demeanor. Mew saw beyond Gulf's brashness and wealth, recognizing a sharp intelligence beneath the surface. What Mew truly appreciated, though, was Gulf's unexpected love for cats. Mew had never met anyone who cared for animals in the same way Gulf did—there was something sincere about the way he treated the creatures, a side of him that wasn't about status or appearance, but rather a raw, unpretentious kind of affection. It was this side of Gulf that caught Mew's attention and made him want to know more, even if Gulf would never admit it.
Despite the animosity between them and the differences in their personalities, Mew found himself intrigued by Gulf. He admired how Gulf seemed untouchable, even when the world seemed to be against him. And even though Gulf's attitude often pushed people away, Mew was one of the few who could see through the walls Gulf had built around himself.
Mew had his own reasons for sticking around despite the cold, distant treatment he received. It wasn't just about admiration—it was about understanding the complexities behind the mask that Gulf wore. To Mew, Gulf wasn't just another rich, spoiled heir. He was someone deeper, someone who, like Mew, carried their own burdens in silence.
Everyone knew about Mew's sexuality, but it didn't stop some girls from having a crush on him. Despite being open about who he was, Mew wasn't interested in the attention he received from them. He simply didn't care. What he wanted was Gulf. Only Gulf, and no one else.
