Part 3❤️

In the morning she was woken up by barking. It was kojo. Kojo is a sweet boy who doesmt bark until he senses danger. She had completely forgotten james was at her house. She stepped out of her room and saw james holding his things standing in a corner trying to calm kojo down.
Lucy: please don't tell me you are scared of dogs too
James: im not, my son has a puppy at his moms, your dog doesn't like me
Lucy: (murmurs) he is not the only one
James: lucy i..
Lucy: ill see you at work okay
James: okay yeah.

Lucy calmed kojo down and gave him treats while she made him and her breakfast. She made oatmeal for herself and bacon and sausages for kojo and after she finished eating she started getting ready.
She left in a hurry because she was almost late. On her way to woek her car stopped. Lucy got down to see what the problem was and she realized that she forgot to charge her car the night before. She called her boss, grace to let her know she might be late and called rob to come pick her up. She was able to charge her car enough with robs car to take it to a charging station close by and left the car there and left with rob.

Lucy: thanks for picking me up

Rob: its cool, I can finally drive you to work, you always decline
Lucy: because I have a car rob
Rob: speaking of car, how was your date with james
Lucy: how is  car related to my date?
Rob: I wanted to ask about the date but I didn't want to intrude
Lucy: I think you will be happy
Rob: okay so it went well?
Lucy: you will be happy if it did?
Rob: of course lucy, I told you we are good
Lucy: well it didn't go well
Rob: for real?
Lucy: yep, turns out james loves drinking
Rob: I knew this guy was weird
Lucy: mhm
Rob: where did he take you
Lucy: drinking? Of course a bar
Rob: bar for a first date? That's a low blow even for weird james
Lucy: stop calling him that
Rob: are you okay though?
Lucy: I mean, he did stay over
Rob: oh, so the night did end well
Lucy: he slept in my guest room
Rob: yikes, and kojo?
Lucy: so not welcoming
Rob: (laughs) im sorry it went this way
Lucy: just drive rob
Rob: (laughs)

The whole drive after the conversation rob couldn't stop laughing. Lucy at some point joined rob to laugh because she really needed it. When they got to work rob pulled himself together because at work he is a tough guy but everyone knows that he only smiles with lucy. Lucy took the elevator up and james came rushing so she held the door for him.
He came in and lucy tried not to make it awkward
Lucy: good morning agent Leonard
James: good morning, how are you?
Lucy: I feel good, what about you?
James: I also feel good
Lucy: great!

The elevator stopped and lucy stepped out with james. He didn't want to say anything because he thought she hated him.
Lucy: hey can we talk, in your office I mean
James: yeah sure

James lead the way and they both stepped in.

Lucy: I know what happened last night was a bust but I just hope you know we are good
James: we are? Because what I did was so embarrassing
Lucy: its okay
James: would you like to go out again?
Lucy: maybe next week, I have so many things to do this week
James: so youre down
Lucy: I know what happened yesterday wasn't meant to happen, so its fine
James: thank you lucy
Lucy: sure, see you around

Lucy left his office and went to her table. As she was working on a case, she got a clue and it lead her to go investigate. She first told grace about it and left the building and took one of the FBI cars. The case she was working on was a murder mystery about an old woman found dead at her backyard. She was found without any murder weapon. Her house was checked and it was spotless. She went to the investigation ground and saw a bunch of cops there still investigating.
She got down and went to the murder scene and went through with her FBI badge. She got to the backyard and asked for the detective on the case. She was told that it was angela lopez and they took lucy to her.
Lucy: hey, agent lucy chen (shows her badge) FBI
Angela: detective angela lopez, are you here to steal my case?
Lucy: no, I came here to investigate also
Angela: em...
Lucy: look I just...(looks up) oh

As lucy was talking something caught her eye. She looked up and saw this dashing tall young man walking towards them. When he got there he spoke to angela and paused to look at lucy with a confused look.
Guy: im sorry who are you?
Lucy: agent chen, FBI
Guy: why is the FBI here? The case is almost solved, we found the murder weapon
Angela: wait you did?
Guy: yeah, so, I guess you have no business here agent chen
As the guy started walking away, lucy couldn't help but look at him. She didn't know she was starring until angela broke the trance.

Angela: like what you see agent chen?
Lucy: oh, no, I mean yes, I mean he looks familiar that's all
Angela: oh, well it was nice meeting you, see you later
Lucy: likewise (confused)

Lucy turned around and left the scene and went back to work. When she got back, rob was waiting for her by the door.
Rob: you are late!
Lucy: I came to work with you rob, don't forget
Rob: I know! I mean the seminar
Lucy: oh shit!

Lucy had totally forgotten about the safety seminar that the FBI hosts annually for a few citizens of LA. Lrob grabbed lucy's arm and took her to the elevator which took them to their conference room on the 5th floor of the building. Lucy had also forgotten that she was going to give a speech and it was almost time.
Rob: can you remember your speech?
Lucy: oh! The speech!
Rob: oh no, no no no, don't tell me you forgot it
Lucy: I did, omg how could I be so careless, why didn't you remind me this morning
Rob: I didn't think youd forget
Lucy: its fine, I can just wing it
Rob: no way! Unless you want to get fired
Lucy: because of a speech? Oh please
Rob: its almost 10:15!!!
Lucy: okay, I think I have the speech on my phone and I can get it printed, wait here
Rob: no! you go in, ill print it
Lucy: ill send it to you
Rob: go!

Lucy pulled herself together and went into the room filled with a lot of people. She walked straight to the stage where her name was boldly written on one of the empty chairs she was supposed to sit on. When she sat down her boss came over to talk to her about the shift they made for her speech because she wasn't present. She thanked grace because she was so not ready without her paper.
As lucy was sitting on the stage, rob texted her telling her that he has printed it and is on his way back. He got back and gave her the paper and took his seat which was "coincidentally" next to natalie's

After two speeches and a presentation it was time for lucy's speech. She stood up and was went to the podium and placed her paper on it. Lucy proceeded to greet the audience first before she started her speech about safety patrol at home and at work. As she was greeting the audience, she noticed some familiar faces from earlier. The guy who indirectly told her to leave earlier and the detective also from earlier. She smiled at them and began her speech.
After 16 minutes lucy was done with her speech. She looked over to the guy and he was smiling at her so she smiled back. She went back to her seat on the stage and the event carried on with its next agenda.
Lucy got thirsty so she took an excuse from grace and went out to get water from the refreshments stand outside the hall. As she was drinking she heard someone talk to her. She turned around and saw that it was the same guy from the crime scene. She almost choked on her drink.
Guy: hey, are you okay?
Lucy: you scared me
Guy: sorry
Lucy: whats up? Do you also need water?
Guy: I wanted to come say hi, and maybe apologise
Lucy: oh, what for?
Guy: I didn't introduce myself properly, my name is sergeant Tim Bradford
Lucy: (dropped her bottle and shakes his hand) nice to meet you Bradford
Tim: thanks, and im sorry about earlier also, we don't like the FBI snooping and taking cases from us
Lucy: oh I totally understand, its okay
Tim: great, well I guess ill see you around, agent chen
Lucy: I guess so too sergeant tim
Tim: great speech by the way, now I wont forget to leave the stove on
Lucy: im glad (laughs)

Tim turned around and walked back into the hall. Lucy finished up her water and went in also.

After the event was over, people started heading out and lucy and Natalia were given some papers to hand out to people. Basically it was a summary of the whole event. From the speeches to the presentations. Many people took the papers and some didn't. when it was tim's turn, he took the paper and gave lucy a smile and she smiled back. They were staring at each other holding the smile until angela nudged him. He was startled so he moved for the next person to come take the paper. Angela was next so when she got there she whispered to lucy.
Angela: he is single
Lucy: oh its..its not like that
Angela: mhm
Lucy: here you go, see you around detective lopez.
Angela: bye and thanks.

After lucy and Natalia finished sharing the papers, they headed back into the conference room for a brief meeting. Rob brought some unsolved case files and shared them randomly. Grace took the floor and told everyone to solve the cases and partner up. Rob partnered up with another agent and lucy had Natalia to partner up with.
Natalia: no way
Lucy: way! Unless you want to bribe someone to switch
Natalia: can I bribe agent mark to switch so that I can be with rob?
Lucy: you could try but mark loves money, he will bill you a thousand or more
Natalia: I guess ill just stick with you then, urgh!

Natalia stormed off and rob came over to lucy

Rob: whats up with her?
Lucy: she wanted to be partnered with you
Rob: hell no
Lucy: when will you ever like her back?
Rob: when my feelings for you vanish but that will never happen
Lucy: I hate it, and I hate you! Lets go grab lunch
Rob: ill drive (laughs)
Lucy: very funny

Rob and lucy went out for lunch
Lucy: so, james asked me out again
Rob: yikes, how did he feel when you turned him down?
Lucy: I didn't
Rob: are you crazy?!
Lucy: I just see potential in him
Rob: yeah but what about those crazy eyes
Lucy: what crazy eyes?
Rob: that hot sergeant from the LAPD, I saw the way you were looking at him
Lucy: no way, tim is just, no
Rob: em...
Lucy: I mean he is definitely hot, and gorgeous and omg his voice
Rob: then?
Lucy: I just met him
Rob: so? When we met you wanted to go out with me so bad
Lucy: no that was all you
Rob: and I still do
Lucy: rob!
Rob: im sorry, well I guess another chance wont hurt
Lucy: I hope im making the right decision
Rob: I need to get a life


After lunch lucy and rob went back to work. Natalia was waiting at lucy's desk looking angry.
Lucy: hey
Natalia: you are late!
Lucy: I went out for lunch and why are you here?
Natalia: did you go out with rob?
Lucy: to eat lunch, obviously yes, why are you here!?
Natalia: we have to work on this case
Lucy: I am already doing something, grace told me to finish up my work before we work on the new case
Natalia: this is a case of a serial bank robber
Lucy: yeah?
Natalia: what if he robs another bank as we are talking
Lucy: relax
Natalia: hey, I know this will sound weird but, can I join you guys for lunch tomorrow?
Lucy: I don't eat with rob on Thursdays, I go to a different spot
Natalia: can you hook us up already?? I have been waiting for you to help me out for years now
Lucy: you never asked
Natalia: just help me
Lucy: that's not how you ask for help
Natalia: okay, please help me out
Lucy: and if he doesn't like you?
Natalia: I already know that, I just need your help that's all, please?
Lucy: fine, ill see what I can do
Natalia: you are the best! I guess


Lucy rolled her eyes and took some documents with her to the bullpen to work in silence. James was passing buy and saw her inside and went in.

James: hey
Lucy: good afternoon
James: yes, good afternoon, how are you?
Lucy: been better
James: so,I wanted to go over our date plans
Lucy: its next week. We still have time
James: I know, im so excited
Lucy: do you mind me asking why you and your ex broke up?
James: oh, we were just different
Lucy: how so
James: its personal
Lucy: wow, if you wont tell me that means its bad
James: its just not time to share these things
Lucy: and I was so open about my ex
James: its different
Lucy: james, if im being bold and honest, I wanted to give this a shot but I don't think so
James: what? Why?
Lucy: yesterday
James: you said you were okay
Lucy: I was trying to move past it
James: is it because of that guy?
Lucy: what guy?
James: the guy you were being sweet with
Lucy: no one says that
James: just answer
Lucy: no, I barely know him, why am I even explaining?
James: you know what, forget it, lets just go back to being friends
Lucy: or strangers
James: no
Lucy: I need to work please, that's why I came here
James: okay then, bye


After shift, lucy went back home and crashed on her bed.
