AUTHOR POV :

It all started two months ago, on an ordinary day that would mark an unexpected turn in Rajveer's life.

Rajveer had stepped into the bustling shopping mall, determined to find a dress for his niece, Raha. His mother had called him early that morning to tell him that Raha wasn't pleased with the dress he'd chosen the day before. And since he doted on her endlessly, he decided to go back and get something she would love, hoping to see her precious smile.

He arrived a bit early and started browsing through the children's clothing section on his own. While sifting through a rack of dresses, he was suddenly distracted by a soft, cheerful voice nearby. Looking over, he saw a woman-a beautiful woman-completely absorbed in examining a glittering lavender dress. Her eyes sparkled as she touched the fabric gently, as if imagining it on a little girl. Rajveer found himself captivated; it felt as if the entire world had fallen silent, leaving just him and this enchanting woman.

She turned the dress over with a soft sigh. "I wish I could buy this," he heard her whisper, "but I have a son. Maybe someday I'll have a daughter too..." A wistful smile crossed her lips as she returned the dress to the rack. Her words tugged at his heart. Young as she was, Rajveer wondered how she could already have a son, but quickly reasoned that she might be shopping for a nephew. Without a second thought, he moved closer, pulled the dress she'd touched from the rack, and decided he would buy it for Raha. After all, if she had chosen it, it had to be special.

At the billing counter, fate seemed to be on his side-she ended up standing right next to him. He heard her name as she gave it to the cashier: Siya. He let the name echo in his mind. "Siya..." he whispered to himself, liking the way it sounded.

As she left, Rajveer quickly paid and followed at a discreet distance, catching a glimpse of her as she bought snacks at a nearby stall. Feeling slightly embarrassed, he decided to take a quick picture, a perfect snapshot of her soft features. With that, he promised himself that he would find her again.

He had no idea why his heart raced so fiercely, why this complete stranger held such a pull over him. But he couldn't shake the feeling. Just then, his phone buzzed. It was his mother, finally arriving. Pushing aside the urge to continue following Siya, he went to meet her.

When he showed the lavender dress to his mother, she raised her eyebrows in surprise. "You actually picked this?"

Rajveer chuckled nervously, running a hand through his hair. "Yeah, don't be so shocked, Mom. I have good taste."

His mother gave him a knowing smile. "Raha will love it, I'm sure," she said, but Rajveer noticed the questioning look in her eyes. Motherly instincts rarely missed anything.

The next day at his office, Rajveer decided to take the plunge. He handed Siya's picture to his assistant, requesting him to find her information by the end of the day. Later, when the report came in, his heart broke a little: Siya was married, and her husband was a CEO like him, though of a smaller firm. She had a young son, Advik.

Rajveer put the file down with a sigh, but his assistant's next words caught his attention. "Sir, I think Siya's husband, Aryan, might be cheating on her with his ex-girlfriend. There's been gossip about him seeing her quite often lately, even bringing Advik along."

Anger flared within Rajveer. How could anyone betray such a lovely person? He clenched his fists. "Keep an eye on Aryan," he ordered, "and make sure Siya is safe. Hire a bodyguard to follow her. I want to know the moment anything seems off."

As time went on, Rajveer grew to respect and admire Siya even more. She was oblivious to his attention, but he knew more than she could imagine. Her strength, patience, and devotion to her family resonated with him. And yet, her husband was clearly hurting her, and that thought stung Rajveer deeply.

---

One evening, as Rajveer was picking Raha up from school, he unexpectedly saw Siya there. She looked beautiful as always, but something felt wrong. Curious, he watched her from a distance and realized she was there for her son, Advik. He could hardly believe his ears when he saw Advik deny knowing Siya as his mother, walking away hand-in-hand with another woman instead. Rajveer's heart sank as he watched the sadness in Siya's eyes. He quickly gathered Raha and left, shaken by what he had witnessed.

Raha, seated in the back of his car, suddenly spoke up. "Daddy, I want that lady to be my mommy. She's nice... and pretty," she said shyly, her small voice carrying an earnestness that Rajveer couldn't ignore.

Rajveer sighed, giving his daughter a soft smile. "I'll think about it, Raha," he promised, knowing there was little he wouldn't do for her.

---

The following morning, Rajveer had to take Raha to a doctor's appointment, and as fate would have it, it was the same hospital where Siya was. His bodyguard had kept him updated: Siya was in the hospital after a fall, and to make matters more heartbreaking, she was pregnant. Rajveer's heart ached for her.

As they arrived, Raha, terrified of the doctor's needle, bolted down the hallway. Rajveer chased after her, only to see her pointing frantically towards the stairs. He hurried to find Siya, crumpled on the floor, clearly hurt and in pain. His heart dropped as he rushed forward, lifting her gently and calling for help.

As she was taken in for treatment, he comforted Raha, who sobbed against him, shaken by the sight. "Daddy... she's hurt. Will she be okay?" she whispered, her wide, tearful eyes locked on him.

"She'll be okay, Raha. I promise," he assured her, stroking her hair as he silently vowed to himself to be there for Siya in whatever way she needed.

Later, once he received confirmation that Siya was stable, an idea began forming in his mind. He decided to wait until the timing was right, but he already knew what he wanted. Raha's wish echoed in his mind, and it was clear to him: Siya needed a safe and loving place, and perhaps... just perhaps... he could be the one to offer it to her.

---

The following day, Rajveer found himself back at the hospital, ready to bring his plan to life. He sat Raha down gently, brushing her hair from her face. "Sweetheart, remember what you asked for? About Siya becoming your mommy?" he asked softly.

Raha nodded eagerly, her eyes lighting up with hope.

"Well, if you're a brave girl today and take your injection without fuss, I promise I'll talk to her," he said with a smile.

Raha nodded, her determination renewed. Rajveer's heart warmed at her innocence, and for the first time, he felt a surge of optimism. Meeting Siya was no longer just a fleeting interest-it was a mission, a purpose he couldn't wait to pursue. And he knew, deep down, that he wanted nothing more than to be there for her, to protect her and show her that real love was still possible.
