My phone vibrated again, and I gritted my teeth in frustration. Picking up my phone, I saw another message from yet another unknown number.

jerkDespite telling this person I didn't care for their bitchy remarks, the reality was that I felt the opposite of 'not caring'. Since my ex-best friend leaked my phone number to my entire school, I had been receiving messages from quite a few people - especially those in her new, bitchy friend group. I had a stutter that I couldn't help, and despite me trying to not stutter in school, they still noticed it and bullied me relentlessly for it.
One of my only friends - Alisha - had told me multiple times to tell my parents or the teachers, but I couldn't. I wouldn't be seen as a freak and a snitch. Everyone would hate me more than they already do.
"Y/n!" my dad called from downstairs.
Sighing as my phone buzzed again, I tossed it on the bed and ran downstairs.
"Yeah?" I asked, putting on my best 'I'm fine' face.
"We're going to the mall," dad told me. "You ready?"
"I-" I hesitated. "Wh-when- since when w-were we going t-t-to the mall?"
Dad raised a questioning eyebrow.
"I told you this morning," he reminded me. "After breakfast."
"Oh," I replied numbly. "S-sorry, I-I forgot."
He nodded slowly.
"You alright?" he asked, a worried glint in his eyes.
Biting my lip, I hesitantly said, "I-I'd ra-rather stay tha-than go to the m-m-mall."
"Y/n, you know I won't leave you at home on your own," he replied with a hint of sternness in his voice.
"Mom does," I replied. "I-I'll be fine, I do-don't know why you're so wo-wo-w-worried."
Dad sighed.
"You'll feel better for going out," he tried to assure me.
"No I w-won't!" I snapped.
My dad stayed silent for a moment, taken aback by my sudden change.
"What's wrong?" he asked.
"Nothing!" I snapped again. "J-just leave me-me-me alone!"
I turned and stormed back up to my bedroom, slamming the door behind me.
"Y/n!" I heard my dad call, then my bedroom door opened. "Don't walk off like that, and don't slam your door!"
"I d-d-don't wanna go ou-ou-out!"
"I need to go to the mall, and I'm not leaving you at home alone!" he argued. "So get ready, we're leaving in five."
When he closed the door behind him, I grabbed a plushie from my bed and threw it at the door in fury. He didn't understand. I couldn't go out! Everyone would want autographs and pictures with my dad - him being Ryan Reynolds - and if anyone from school was there, they'd probably start talking shit about me and my parents. I could meet that person who was messaging me at the mall. They could be anybody from school, and they could be at the mall at the same time we were. They could try to hurt me or my dad, and things could go wrong, and-
