Amanda and Mark came to visit the next day. Amanda sat beside my bed reading my favorite book while Mark sat next to her listening intently. He seemed to be really enjoying the book. I sat down in the corner watching them. Those two seemed like a good couple. Mark seemed like a nice guy. Too bad I won't be meeting him anytime soon. I sat there listening to the story.

Later on, I went to go and visit my school. It was during assembly and I sat down next to Lisa. "Can we please bow our heads in prayer for Caroline Singer," Principal Brown said and everyone bowed their heads. After assembly, I caught up with Ryan he seemed to be holding a note. He drove to the hospital and put the letter under my pillow. When he left, I took the letter and read it.

Dear Caroline,
I've been meaning to tell you this for a really long time, but I never had the guts. I love you. I didn't tell you because I know that you like Jake, but I just thought I should just tell you since I may never see you again. I haven't been visiting you much, because it breaks my heart seeing you like this. If you wake up and see this note and maybe if you feel the same, meet me at our favorite spot at sunset (whenever you wake up. I'll go there everyday.) If you don't show up, I'll understand.
Love,
Ryan

I read the letter a few times, because I couldn't process it the first time. Ryan likes me? I couldn't believe it. I didn't know what to do. I just stood there.
