"Your friends are pretty nice." I mouth to him. He smiles brightly and I can't help but wonder if he had been nervous. I was that's for sure. It went surprisingly well though, even when I accidentally touched Alfie's hand. All I got was something about Zoe's hair, so It didn't really stand out. The only thing that saddened me about the hour was that Connor only spoke once. Which I guess should make me feel special, considering no one else at the table heard it, but it doesn't. I just want him to feel comfortable with himself."I'm glad you liked them." He says, taking me a bit by surprise. I stand in front of him, my car door inches away. The school day has long passed, but I'm not ready to leave him just yet.
'Me too.' I mouth and he looks at his shoes, fidgeting around in his spot. I know what he's wanting to ask, but it's cute seeing him like this. Earlier this morning I heard him think about inviting me over since his family's out, but I might beat him to it. Tapping his shoulder, I muster up all of my courage and mouth to him slowly.
'Do you wanna come over?' It takes him a second to understand what I said but once he has he smiles brightly. He nods eagerly, bouncing around my car to the passenger side. I laugh and open my door, starting the car.
Im surprised when he starts flipping through the radio even though he obviously can't hear it. He trains his eyes on me waiting for me to say when to stop. I hold up my hand when Young and Beautiful by Lana Del Ray comes on, singing along loudly. It's a bonus that Connor can't hear me or things would be awkward. I love singing, and I think I'm pretty okay at it, but I still don't feel comfortable doing it in front of people.
He smiles contently before settling into the soft leather seat. We get to my house within a few minutes, getting out and practically skipping to the door. Connors never been inside before, so I'm a little nervous about him seeing the Mellet house hold. We enter the front door, me a few paces ahead.
"And here we are!" I say, opening my arms wide before remembering he can't hear me and turning around quickly. I panic when I don't see him and turn into the den to find him starring at my camera I'd left on the table the night before. I'm not too into photography, but it's clear Connor is. I have the camera to record my singing. I pull out my phone and text him.
T- do you like photography?
He pulls out his pink floral cased iPhone before spinning around bash fully. He shrugs trying to act casual, but the fake demeanor quickly falls and turns into a serious one.
"Yeah, I guess. I sorta have a passion for beautiful things." The way he's look at me makes me feel scared and totally unnerved. I love it.
"Oh?" I ask and he nods, biting his lip in an almost seductive way. He takes a step forward and I freeze, every muscle in my body tense. With each new step I get more anxious ready for whatever he throws my way. Once he's a few inches in front of me he reaches his hand out, and I can't help but think he's going in for a kiss.
I'm more than surprised when he pokes my nose and walks around me. Slightly disappointed I follow him up the stairs, then lead him into my room. His eyes rake over the Beyoncé posters and random Tumblr-like knickknacks. His eyes brighten when they fall on my piano.
"Play me something!" He says, staring at me with such intensity that it takes me a minute to comprehend what he said. I look at him like he's insane. Why the hell would I play him something he can't hear?!
