I heard the faint beeping of several machines around me. A set of footsteps traced around me , it sounded weird though. As if it was behind a glass barrier. I heavily opened my eyes , the lights blinding me in the process. I squinted in pain as a stray tear of pain ran down my cheek. After my eyes got  used to the light I finally was able to look around. A low growl rumbled through the back of my neck while I scrutinized the glass cage that contained me. Wait did I just growl?

I shook the realisation off as I deemed it unworthy of my attention at the moment. I got up and walked towards one of the glass barriers , looking it up and down. I put my hand on it and a faint purple hue came off of it. I attempted shattering the glass by weakening it's atomic bondages before attacking it full force , but to my suprise the purple hue quickly disappeared and the bottom of the cage amitted a red light.

I felt the light draining the energy out of me until I was weak. I fell to the ground , still trying to keep my consciousness. Completely losing your energy always meant that you'd lose consciousness while your body tried regaining the energy. The red light faded just before all of my energy was drained , I slowly sat upright and scrutinized the blasted thing. They had clearly upgraded it to stop me from escaping.

“ It's not going to work “ that was Brandon's voice. He stood against a wall , his green eyes glaring into mine. “ The more energy you use  the more energy the cage drains out of you. “ He said quite grimly.

He was right , I knew my physical capabilities wouldn't be able to break me out of here too. This was a two way lose situation I didn't like. I looked down at my feet , the anger in my body clearly visible with how tensed up my body was getting.

“ Where is Ethan “ I asked slowly , avoiding eye contact with him. I knew that they did something to him. I couldn't feel his presence any more.

As his sibling and an electricity user I have always been able to pick up his presence in a 200 meter radius. Since my energy was always moving outward luka a radar pulse wave , it wasn't something I could keep bottled up in my body due to its nature. So I decided to use it as a radar to pick up Ethan's energy. I didn't know how it worked exactly but I knew that it was something I could always rely on. Since I couldn't sense it , I knew he was either out of my radius or that he must've gotten into some situation leaving him powerless , and I'm certain the first option is a not true. He isn't that reckless.

Brandon looked away for a second before looking at me again. “ He wanted to get you out , we couldn't risk that so we knocked him out and secured him “ he said quite bored with the answer himself. My hands curled into shaking fists , I could see my knuckles pale in response.

“ You guys are monsters , why did I ever think  trusting you guys was worth it ?“ I said lowly , I had no idea if he was able to hear me.

“ I'm not impressed with my own actions but Astrid has a point , your a bit dangerous and we can't have you losing control in here. “ He said looking down at his shirt. I looked closely and saw his abdomen was a bit larger than usual. How I had noticed was beyond me.

“ Why not just kick me out , I would've gladly left and never even as much as looked back “ I snapped , finally catching his gaze.

He flinched for a second and looked ashamed of himself ,he stopped leaning against the wall and slowly walked to the cage. His eyes bore into mine , fear crept into my body , but so did comfort. What kind of messed up contradiction is this?

“ We didn't because your brother begged he'd keep you under control , and clearly he failed. I understand that it wasn't his fault and neither was it yours “ he kept quite before walking towards the door. As he held the handle he liked at me. “ Thank you for saving my life , I really appreciate what you did for me. I'm forever grateful “ he said it with sincerety. He finally opened the door and closed it behind him. He walked off down the hallway and took a turn , out of my sight but definitely not out of mind.

I lied down on the hard glass , I curled into a ball and closed my eyes. The situation i was in wasn't a good one and the fact that nearly everyone here was  treating me like a monster definitely hurt me . I tried closing my eyes , trying to forget everything. My eyes felt heavy and my breathing lowered. Sleep consumed me as my senses dulled to a hush.

After a while opened my eyes to a dark room. I slowly got to my feet , and started questioning myself. Am I dead? I said in my head lightly before walking around. I walked for a while until I saw a mirror , the exact same one I saw the last time this happened. I wondered if the virus still lived in it . I walked up to it but nothing showed up , I then decided to tap on it , after a few long second it appeared. Will, more like faded into existence. It tilted its head at me , it's red glowing eyes staring at my white ones. Don't even ask why I have white eyes okay?

“ Nice to see you again “ it said , a red smile creeping onto its face.

“ Yeah , likewise “ I said starring into its eyes.

It looked at me with worry , the shade of redness in it's eyes shifted to a lighter one. Concern laced it's face , it really did look like a replica of me. “ You seen to be confused, frustrated , angered , and heartbroken. Sadly I can't help you with any of that , but I can answer the question which are leading to your confusion and all the questions which you might have?“ It said before coming out if the mirror.

I jumped back a little in utter suprise and smiled lightly at his comforting tone ,  I now found no need to see him as hostile , he lived in me and there was nothing much I can do , but accept his comforting.

“ What would you like to know “ he asked politely , a polite smile on his smile.

I decided to cut right to the chase , no point in beating around the bush. “ How come I didn't lose my sanity like the other people who got infected? I mean I was clearly infected by the virus. “ I said , clear confusion smeared all over my face.

“ Well when you got infected , the virus was stopped by the electricity which was still active in your systems. That caused the virus to not tamper with your brain completely.“ He said in an informing voice.

“ Hmm , make enough sense. Oh well , it is what is after all.“ I said shrugging and sighing in tiredness. My head quickly perked at the realisation of another burning question. “ Regarding my sanity , why do I lose control and how can I prevent it from happening again ?“ I asked with pleading eyes , hoping he'd give me a solid response

“ Since the virus attacks your sanity , but for your case it is still  attempting to .It ended up bonding  itself with your emotions , the more anger you build up the more likely you are to lose control. Although you'll regain it after you calm down , it's just very risky since you have no control over yourself and will do literally everything. You can keep tabs on it by taking breathing excercises or train having control in simulated situations where you might lose it “

Well , at least now I knew how to handle that , I just have  to figure out ways to actually control it.

“ I see that our time is up , so I have something to say before you wake up again. “ He said sternly. I nodded my head and focused my eyes on him.

“ The virus has changed the way your powers work , it has given you more abilities to use to your disposal but they have setbacks after being used , that you'll find out when you figure out what the abilities are and how to properly use them. You have heightened senses , those much higher than the other infected humans and the heirs themselves. This means you'll be able to detect things much faster than others. Those are the two important things that you must know for now. So be careful and stay vigilant. “ He slowly said , his smile smeared onto his face as he turned around and walked back into the mirror.

I wanted to reach out to him and tell him to stay , but something else told me that I shouldn't and it was for the best. So I let him be , I watched as he slowly disappeared into the darkened abyss. I let out a sigh before I turned around and walked away
