Tony picked herself up off the ground, shaking her head to dislodge the dirt and debris from her hair. Her ears were ringing and she could feel the burns, bruises, and abrasions that came along with a bomb going off practically in her arms... But that seemed to be the extent of the damage.

She grit her teeth as she smacked out the flames melting the leather of one sleeve and glared at the scorch marks. The damage to her wardrobe however...

"Someone's gonna pay for this."

Tony levered herself up and onto her feet, scanning for Sonya. Her cousin was slumped against the alley wall, having a minor melt down. The ringing in Tony's ears abated enough that the hysterical words spewing from Sonya's mouth began to register.

"A bomb! A Sire damned bomb! Somebody tried to kill me! Oh my Sire, who would do that to me?!"

Tony strode over and reached down, grasping Sonya's elbow to coax her to her feet. "Are you hurt? You don't look like you took any damage."

Sonya got to her feet and leaned shakily against the wall. "I'm- I think I'm okay. Are you? That thing went off in your face!"

Tony shrugged, patting herself off. "Actually, I managed to get it into the dumpster with a bag of trash over top before it went off. Otherwise, I'd look more like the dumpster." Sonya looked past Tony to the metal bin and swayed a little at the sight of the hole blown through the metal, edges curled and glowing. Tony grasped her elbow to make sure she stayed on her feet.

"See? This is why it's not a good idea to be anywhere near the throne. I mean, Katty got kidnapped just last week." She chuckled at the horrified look Sonya turned on her. "Though, if we're being honest, I think Katty let it happen just for a little excitement."

"You think someone wants to kill me because I've got a tenuous right to the throne?"

A grin slowly spread over Tony's face, now that Sonya was starting to look a little steadier. "Either that or someone really didn't appreciate you stealing their boyfriend." She chuckled when Sonya grimaced. "In any case, we should probably remove ourselves from the scene of the crime before the fire department shows."

Sonya nodded and they turned to go towards the end of the alley. A dark figure blocked the way. Tony frowned and looked back the other way. Two dark figures stood at that end. Her frown deepened when she cast another glance at the first figure and found they had been joined by two more. Sonya hissed quietly at Tony.

"Are you sure they're here for me and not you?"

Tony shrugged, hand slipping into her pocket and fingering the handspan length of cool blade. "I mean, if you want to make a run for it and see if they follow you or stay and fight me that's fine. But I can't protect you from a block away."

Sonya scowled. "We might not see eye to eye most days, but I'm not going to abandon my family to an outmatched fight."

Tony grinned, and had no problem letting Sonya believe her own words. The fight was certainly outmatched. But not on Tony's end. Even with her attention split protecting someone else, Tony wasn't going to have trouble with this fight. The sentiment was still appreciated.

She withdrew the blade from her pocket and whispered the activation word. In response, the blade grew from a handspan to a full short sword in an instant. The dragon bone blade didn't glint in the dying firelight and watery streetlamps, but it was still strong as steel and wicked sharp. Tony whirled it in an easy circle before gripping it tight and making ready for a fight.

"I'll take the trio if you think you can hold off the duo til I get there."

Sonya took in a bracing breath as she put her back to Tony's, facing the end of the alley with only two assailants stalking in.
