Eddie isn't completely sure why Buck showed up to his house unannounced with a six pack of beer, but he isn't about to start questioning his best friend now.
For the first time in his adult life, he feels free to be himself. While it's true that his son is still far away in another state, his life is finally falling into place. Before he knows it, Christopher will be safe back home with him. But that isn't what's on his mind right now.
A few moments of silence have passed by since he plopped himself on his couch alongside his best friend, who is now chugging a beer.
Eddie takes a moment to adjust himself, now just remembering that he is in his underwear and upbeat music is blasting when his best friend is most definitely not happy.
He wants to say something to Buck or at least try to cheer him up, but he knows that isn't what Buck needs right now. He also wants to go and hurt whoever caused Buck to feel this way, but he's learned that violence isn't the appropriate response to everything.
The minutes turn into an hour as his playlist of songs continues to play while they sit in a comfortable silence. No words are spoken, there's only the sound of Buck popping open a new beer.
Eddie clears his throat. "Are you okay?" He asks, tentatively.
"No."
"Okay... Do you want to talk about it?"
"No."
"Right, okay. Aren't you curious about the way I'm dressed right now?"
Buck glances over at Eddie's body and shrugs his shoulders, right before he looks up to Eddie's face.
"Wait, you shaved your mustache? I thought you loved that thing?"
"I thought I did, but a wise man helped me figure out what it really meant."
"And what did it mean?" Buck sighs.
"You don't have to sound too excited."
"Sorry." Buck sighs deeply again and rubs his temple. "I've had a long night. I'd like to know how you are feeling, though."
"I'll tell you..." He pauses for dramatic effect. "But only if you tell me what's going on with you, first."
"Oh come on, Eddie."
"I don't see what the big deal is. We tell each other everything." Eddie argues.
"Not everything." Buck looks at him with a pointed look and Eddie laughs, thinking back to Kim and the confession he had at the church just a few days prior.
"Seriously, Buck. What is going on with you?"
"Tommy broke up with me." Buck forces out.
"Tommy... broke up with you?" Eddie immediately stands to mute the music before sitting back down beside Buck. He finds it extremely hard to believe that Tommy was the one to break up with Buck. He hasn't been a fan of their relationship for some time but he never expected Tommy to be the one to end things.
From the way Eddie saw it, Tommy always seemed like he was jealous of the life Buck had and thought that by dating him, he could feel like he was a part of something.
"I know, right? I couldn't believe it either." Buck's statement brings Eddie back to the reality of the situation.
"Did he say why?" Eddie rakes his mind for a reason for anyone to break up with a person like Buck, but he comes up blank. He would have killed to be in a relationship with someone as perfect as Buck.
"Just some bullshit about how he was my boyfriend so he couldn't be my last, and how he thought I was rushing into things too fast by asking him to move in with me."
