Cally's POV

After we wrapped up breakfast, we hit the road to a spot I’d been dying to show her since we started dating. We stepped out of the car, hand in hand, and soaked in the lively vibe of the overlook. The air was filled with the mouthwatering smell of street food, making it hard to resist grabbing a bite. I’d hesitated to bring her here earlier because it was a budget-friendly place, and I wasn’t sure if she’d be into it.

"Thanks for letting me check this out. I can't wait to see the sunset with you," Macey said, grinning.

I smiled back, trying to shake off any doubts.

"Well, a six-hour drive has to be worth it, right? Let’s make this day awesome," I replied.

We meandered through the crowd, trying all sorts of local treats. The spicy skewers, sweet pastries, and zesty street tacos were to die for.

As we explored, Macey’s face lit up with excitement. "Days like this are the best," she said.

I agreed, feeling genuinely happy. "Absolutely. Just a laid-back day with you."

"Let’s keep tasting even more food while we’re at it. What do you think?" She held out her hand, and I took it eagerly.

We munched on everything she wanted to taste, and we kept discovering new flavors. Hours flew by, then we found a perfect spot for the sunset, the sky bursting with pink and orange hues.

Macey snuggled up close. "Happy anniversary, Cally."

I wrapped my arms around her. "Happy anniversary, Macey."

As the sun dipped below the horizon, I felt this calm wash over me. Maybe this time would be different.

Sitting on the hill, watching the city lights come alive, I took Macey's hand. "Macey, no matter what happens, just remember how much I love you."

She looked at me, eyes wide with concern. "What’s going on, Cally? You’re kinda freaking me out."

I forced a grin. "Nothing, just... promise me you’ll be okay."

Her grip tightened. "I’ll be okay, but you’re scaring me."

Taking a deep breath, I said, "Always cherish our memories, our laughs, our love."

Macey’s voice cracked. "Cally, what’s wrong? Are you breaking up with me?"

I paused, unsure how to answer. "Just... just promise me, okay?"

Tears welled up in her eyes. "I promise, Cally. But please don’t leave me." I pulled her closer, holding her tight.

"I'll always be with you, Macey. Right here," I whispered, touching her heart.

Her tears fell, and I knew my own were about to follow. As we hugged, I felt the weight of everything uncertain ahead of us.

Taking her hands, heart racing, I said, "Macey, from the moment I met you, I knew you were special. You light up my world in ways I never thought possible."

Macey’s eyes shimmered with tears, her face glowing. She searched my eyes. "Don’t leave me. Are you going to break up with me?"

I smiled, my voice shaking. "No way, silly." I chuckled. "Macey, will you... will you spend the rest of your life with me?"

Tears brimmed in her eyes. "Yes, yes, a million yeses!"

Relief and joy flooded through me. "I don’t have a ring, but I swear to love and cherish you forever."

She beamed. "I don’t need a ring, Cally. I just need you."

We shared a soft kiss, the world around us fading out. At that moment, I knew it was one we’d never forget.

Macey’s eyes sparkled with happiness as she looked at me. "Cally, I’m so happy. I love you."

I grinned, my heart overflowing. "I love you more, Macey."

She leaned in, barely above a whisper. "Forever and always."

I nodded, my voice cracking. "Forever and always."

Macey’s face radiated joy, but I noticed a flicker of worry in her eyes. "Cally, what’s up? You seem... uncertain."

Taking a deep breath, I tried to reassure her. "Nothing, just... I want to enjoy every moment with you."

Her expression softened. "Me too, Cally. We’ll tackle whatever comes next together."

"Here's a letter for you but I want you to read it tomorrow. Okay?" I said and good thing there's no sign of opposition.

"Your wish is my command." She said lovingly.

I smiled, grateful for her love and support. But as we hugged, I couldn’t shake the feeling that our forever might be shorter than we imagined.
