Princess Rhaenyra was with her father, King Viserys, breaking their fast as they had hardly had any time to spend together. The day was warm, and the sun still lit the skies with beautiful blues, reds, pinks, and oranges with a gentle breeze blowing through the halls with a quiet hum.

"My darling daughter, it brings me great joy to have this time with you. Though it seems we do not get to enjoy each others company as often as I would like with the duties we have and with the babe on the way. How is the little one? I hope not too much trouble." King Viserys said with a hint of regret but also joy knowing it would not be too long until he gets to meet his first grandchild.

"As it does me father, it has been a while since we have had the chance to sit and talk without the need to talk politics, or listen to the Lords arguing amongst themselves. And yes, the babe is fine, although I do believe she will be here soon. I can feel it. I may be a little uncomfortable, but soon, this will be all worth it." Princess Rhaenyra told her father, sounding exhausted from not sleeping the previous night due to pain.

"Oh, you think you will have a girl." The king said with happiness and a smile.

"Yes, I do believe so." Rhaenyra replied with a soft chuckle. "Call it a mothers intuition. Though I do not mind if I have a boy, i would love the babe regardless."

"Yes, yes, very true, my dear, very true." Viserys says to his daughter. A moment or two had passed in silence until the King asked eagerly. "So, have you and Laenor picked out any names for my grandchild yet?"

Rhaenyra chuckled at how eager her father was to know the babes name before speaking up softly. "I have a few ideas, and so does Laenor, but you will have to wait until ......" The Princess paused as she felt a sharp pain shoot through her belly and the wetness coming from between her legs. The Princess knew she was going to have the babe this day with luck. Taking deep breaths, waiting for the pain to subside.

"Rhaenyra, are you ok? What is the matter?" The king asked as he saw the pain in his daughters face wishing that he could take away whatever had pained her.

"The babe" was all she could say, though the pain.

At that moment, the king knew she was about to have the babe.

Running from the room in a very unkingly manner, calling for a maester before returning to his daughter who was trying to stand up to try and releave some pressure. But as she does so, another wave of pain the hits, sending the princess to stumble a little bit before feeling arms wrap around her to keep her balance. Looking up, she saw her father.

"The maester is coming. I shall help you to your room. Come take it slow. If you need to stop for a moment, then we shall." The king said in a firm but gentle manner.

Even though the journey may have been a short one to both, father and daughter, it felt as though it took hours.

~time skip~

It has been just over half a day, and the princess was getting ready to push. The maids running around the room make sure everything is ready while one of the maids presses a cold damp towel to the princess' head to wipe the sweat from her brow.

"Right, princess, you are going to have to start pushing now." Maester Gerardys told the princess.

All around the castle, the princess pained screams could be heard in every corner.

After a few more pushes, the babe was almost out.

"Keep pushing Princess the babe is almost here." One of the maids spoke trying to encourage the princess to keep going, but it only caused the princess to lash out with words.

"What do you think I'm doing, you c**t!" The Princess snapped at the maid.

With one final pain filled scream, the babe was out, and the princess laid back after the pain and pressure had left her body. But there were no cries from her babe, and it made the princess worried.

"My babe, what is wrong? Why can I not hear my babe?" The Princess asked in panic, trying to sit up to look at her babe.  But she still could not see. "I want my baby, give her to me. Give me my baby!" The Princess started to panic more, but before she could do or say anything else, Maester Gerardys turned around handing the babe to the princess.

"She is healthy, my princess. Just a quiet little thing she is." He said, but Rhaenyra could tell there was something he was not telling her.

"Leave all of you." The Princess tells them. But as the maester goes to leave, the princess calls for him to wait.

"What is wrong? Is there something wrong with her?" The Princess said, feeling the panic rise back up.

"The Princess is health princess. It ... it is just..." he said but could not find the right words to say. And it started to annoy the princess as she did not know what to do.

"Tell me what it is going on?" The Princess bit at the maester.

"You should see for yourself, princess. On her back and in her eyes." Is all he said while looking at the floor.

As the princess started to process what the maester had said. She gently started to remove the blanket from her sleeping daughter. But as she did so, the chill in the air woke the babe, and Rhaenyra froze what she was doing, looking into her daughters mix match eyes one the colour same colour of violet as Daemon's and the other a blood red colour. But that was not what caught the princess off guard it was the shape of them they looked like dragon eyes.

After the shock had worn off, the princess smiled down at her babe, who had just looked up at her with aw. And she gently turned her babe over only to gasp at the sight of two small wings that were black and red with flicker of gold running through them. The princess quickly wrapped her babe up again to sheild her from the cold breeze and any wandering eyes of those around her.

"How ... how is this possible?" Princess Rhaenyra asked, still shocked but in aw at her babe.

"The blood of the dragon runs thick through her veins princess a gift from the gods." The maester said with a smile.

Before anything else could be said, there was a knock on the door. And within a blink of the eye, the king and Queen, along with the queen's new sworn protector, Ser Criston Cole, entered.

"Where is she? Where is my granddaughter?" The king said in great joy, walking over to where his daughter lay on the bed with a bundle in her arms. "Oh, how beautiful she is. May I?" He asked, gesturing to the babe.

The Princess slowly handed her babe over to her father as laenor entered the room.

"A girl, I'm told you had a girl." He said in excitement. Unaware of the stiff posture of a certain knight or the clenched fists and jaw.

When Criston saw the babe, he believed she was his daughter and wanted nothing more than to hold her and protect her like a father would, but he knew he could not do that and had to stand back and watch and someone rises his child. (Even though she is not his.)

"Have you chosen a name for her?" The king asked as the Queen walked over, slowly moving the blanket aside to see the colour of her hair. And to the shock of the queen, the babes hair was loose white curls on the babes head.

A sign to show she is Targaryen.

"Daenys Targaryen, second of her name. The relms dragon. My heir." The Princess said with so much love and happiness and pride.

An: Hello, this is my first fanfic. Please tell me what you think? Please, no hate.
