As they finally arrived at Driftmark, Rhaenyra gently shook her daughter awake.

"Come, we have arrived." Rhaenyra said softly as a small yarn left Daenys' lips.

They all got off the boat and started to head to the castle where the funeral would be held in just a few short hours. Daenys stopped and looked to her mother.

"Muna?" Daenys asked softly as she pointed to the dragons. Cannibal stood watching Daenys interact with her mother before she nodded.

"Yes, you can go see them, but be back soon, ok." Rhaenyra spoke to her daughter with a small smile as Daenys chirped and ran off, taking to the sky to meet cannibal and the other dragons.

~at the castle~

Rhaenyra and her family stepped into the castle shortly after everyone had arrived.

The king and Daemon approached Rhaenyra as she sent her sons to see their cousins.

"Where is Daenys?" The king asked his daughter as he reached her side.

She cast a quick look at Daemon, knowing he didn't know about her yet. And he looked at her in wonder because all he knew was that she had three dark-haired strong boys that were meant to be Laenor's.

"She went to see the dragons." Was all she said, feeling the heat of Daemon's stare on the side of her face.

The king chuckled. "True blood of the dragon, dear brother. You should see her soon she is a beautiful young lady." And with that, he left his brother and daughter to talk.

"You never told me you have a daughter." Daemon stated.

"There is something you should know. Care to take a walk?" She spoke, trying not to look nervous.

Daemon nodded and led her down to the beach out of the way of listening ears.

"What is it?" He asked after they walked away from the castle.

"Daenys, she is not like the other kids, nor is she like any Targaryen that has been born in our family before." Rhaenyra rambled as she felt her nerves hitting a new high. "She... she more dragon than any of my other children."

"Rhaenyra, what are you talking about?" Daemon asked, confused.

"You need to see to believe what I am saying. You must not make any sudden movements or loud noises." Rhaenyra said.

"Rhaenyra?" Daemon asked, starting to be impatient with her.

"She is also our daughter." Rhaenyra said, shocking him. And before her could say anything, Rhaenyra yelled out in high valyrian. "Daenys, come here, please, sweet girl."

For a moment, there was silence until a flapping of wings were heard. The cannibal landed near the water, lowering himself to the sand, revealing a young girl on top of him.

Rhaenyra smiled as Daemon looked on in aww that his first daughter rides one of the most feared and largest dragons in the world. He did not yet notice her wings or her eyes until she jumped from cannibal's head and glided down to her mother.

Daemon stood in shock as he took in her appearance. The wings, the dragon eyes, and her white hair. It took him a moment to realise she was looking right back at him. Her wings started to flap lightly in joy, feeling the bond she had with him. She chirped at him, which caused Daemon to smile at her.

"Kepa?" She asked quietly, looking at her mother to the new man, standing infrong of her.

"Yes, but you must not tell anyone." Her mother told her in high valyrian. Daenys nodded in understanding to what her mother asked.

"Hello, little dragon." Daemon said, earning a tilt of her head with a frown. She looked to her mother for her to translate, but her mother spoke to the new man in the common tongue, making Daenys' wings sag a little as she didn't understand.

"She does not understand the common tonge like you, and I." Rhaenyra explained. "We have tried, but she could never could understand, only a few words here and there. She has never spoken a full sentence as of yet in the common tonge."

Daemon looked from Rhaenyra to Daenys and knelt down speaking in high valyrian. "Hello, little dragon. I am sorry I did not know you did not understand." He said, looking at her, taking in all of her appearance. Smilling softly at her.

She chirped at him, then purred in understanding. He looked to Rhaenyra as she smiled.

"That is how she communicates. Just like a dragon. Sometimes, she will be with the dragons, playing and talking to them." She explained

He smiled and then got up.

"It is time for the funeral." He said as he walked away. Rhaenyra and Daenys follow close behind.

~funeral~

After Vaemon's speech, he earned growls and a laugh from both Daemon and Daenys. Laena was laid to rest with her kin.

Rhaenyra asked her daughter to go with her brothers while she walked around, giving her condolences before going to speak with Daemon.

"Why does Crispbin keep staring at her like that?" Daemon asked, irritated that the night hasn't stopped looking at his oldest daughter.

"He believes she is his." Rhaenyra sighed before explaining. "When you left me in the brothel. I seeked pleasure in another. That other is Criston. I have told him time and time again that she is not his, but he does not believe me."

Daemon hummed, not pleased with the new information, but he could not blame her as he was the one to just leave her there.

Rhaenyra looked down as she walked away to her children.

"It is time to go to bed." Rhaenyra spoke to her sons and then repeated it so her daughter could understand.

Daenys nodded and started to head to bed as she was tired, with Luke about to follow her when jace spoke up.

"Can we not stay up just a bit longer."

"No, it is time for bed now, go." Rhaenyra stated more firmly.

With a huff, he started to leave before his mother spoke up again.

"Please make sure your sister gets to her chamber's."

With a nod, they left.

~time skip~

Daenys woke up with a jump as she heard a roar from a dragon. But it was not one she had heard before, so she got up to explore.

She reached the beach as the large dragon landed in front of her. Vhagar.

She looked up in aww as she lowered down, letting off whoever was on her back. Aemond.

She backed away slowly, remembering the last time they were near each other, the mean words he said to her. This caught Vhagar's attention, causing her to growl threateningly at the young girl as she curled her wings around her.

Cannibal felt her distress landing behind her, growling back at the large dragon that was similar in size. Warning her to back off, and so she did.

"Daenys, look, I have another dragon now. Just like you." He said in joy, not realising the tension between the dragons.

Stepping forward, she backed away from him and ran towards the castle cannibal on her tail to make sure she got back safe.

But as she did, she did not notice the sad look that Aemond gave her. He knew he hurt her last time they were close, and he was determined to do whatever it took to get her trust back. He also headed towards the castle.
